You guys won’t read it but here is a great article on the subject. There are tons more talking about the continuing situation and RB/Honda politics/drama if you care to search.

In a moment of unity between Ferrari/Merc/Redbull/Mclaren/Haas/Etc fans;
Can we all agree that Paul Ricard is the worst track on the calendar now that Sochi is gone? That track needs to go. |

So if they wanted to get rid of RB they could have. The point is that pretty much every team wants what RB wanted, a cheaper, simpler engine that makes more noise. RB threatened indeed to pull back from F1 if that wasn't an option. But the difference is, this is a threat against the FIA, not against the other teams. Hence the unanimous vote..... Keeping F1 'affordable' is very important. The FIA wants it, the teams want it and the sponsors want it. I mean the FIA wants a very filled calender, 23 races; the sponsors want that of course (and this is much more than say in the 90's, but the FIA struggles with getting enough teams (new teams also have to pay an entry fee). Look at the 90's, 14 or 15 teams was normal and teams had to qualify to compete and enter the race. More cars than places on the starting grid. Because of the costs (and of course no booze/tobacco sponsering) there are now only 10 teams left. The FIA is really looking for more teams so teams leaving because of costs is not in their (or other teams') interest.

VER: "that was good racing, holy s**t, nice" "that was exciting":
LEC: "f**k, well done to Max, that was nice"

You are still ignoring that the deal the teams voted unanimously for is now possibly being changed by Honda/RB. There needs to be clarification as to what is happening there. |

At some point is Mercedes going to realize that leaving Lewis out on old tires, so that he can keep position, is NOT the strategy that will get them higher in the standings
I can't believe how many times this has happened now - it is just crazy to me was a great race though!

That's why they voted unanimously. And look at the result in the 1st year of the engine freeze. The midfield is so much more competative now. So it was definately the way to go, the proof is already here after just 2 races. Quote:
I thought every normal person could understand that difference. Guess not. But it doesn't matter if you don't understand it. Ferrari and RB understand it. And it immediately shows a different battle on the track, and everyone likes it. The teams, the specatators, the TV commentary....everyone!

I figured a normal person that complained earlier in this sub forum about people bringing up ridiculous drama wouldn’t continue to bring up ridiculous drama. Oh yeah, that person (you) is called a hypocrite. Most normal people that aren’t RB fans can see they cause just as much drama if not more than other teams. You obviously didn’t read the article and the thousands of others like it about RBs BS and other teams not liking them. |

I did read the very very biassed article.
I'm just saying that there now is a big difference how teams interact. Well, how RB and Ferrari are interacting. MERC has nothing to interact. And eveyone likes it, how the battles now are fought on track. It's just clear that both Ferrari and RB are done with the way MERC played their politics last year. It shows in every way. How MAx and Charles interact, how Horner and Binotto interact. The pictures are speaking for themselves. You're the one that just doesn't see it. I'm not the hypocrite here.

Here some photo's for you:
Rivals for sure. But also mutual respect. They know they'll meet again on the track, and next race LEC probably wins. Lets see if one of them runs the other one off the track in a 300+kph corner.....

Yet you can already see the cracks forming and are ignoring Max bitching about some things that LEC did at the end of the race. Like I said, I’m sure it’ll stay exactly this way all the way through the season…… Last edited by minn19; 03-28-2022 at 12:23 PM.. |

That is something that I did not see any genuine sign of from the 7-time world champ - or his team last year, and it burned me on them permanently... it also affected other teams and their attitude, and F1 knows that the poisonous vibes were not sustainable long-term for the brand. With that said, Hamilton was the only (and/or loudest) voice to bring up racing in the middle-east - and human rights/women's rights. I applaud that. I LOVE his voice in that. It's possible he just lost (or was never taught) the ability to retain and sustain a level of humility. |

Agreed about SA, they shouldn’t be racing there for numerous reasons. Track safety, possibly getting caught up in a war safety and politically. They canceled Sochi in a hurry, SA is no better in my eyes. |

I'm glad the thread got cleaned up but disappointed that my loathing of the Circuit of Paul Ricard was removed.
I'd rather have Jeddah than the French GP. |

Not quite accurate, Bono told him his “pit stop interval” was OPEN a lap before the safety. This means pit if a VSC or Safety Car is deployed. Lewis forgot and missed the opportunity to pit before the pit lane was closed. I do agree Bono’s attempt to remind Lewis was late.
