Clearly, Purdy did not have his best game. But even with all the bad passes, he still managed 252 yards, a TD and zero interceptions. Most importantly, he found a way to sustain a long drive at the end and grind out a victory.

That isn't how the NFL works anymore. That kid is not going to risk injury playing in last year of his deal. He is going to get paid. Schefter and Rapoport are already reporting Love will be one of highest paid QBs in league. Talks will take place in Spring. He will likely end up with Herbert and Hurts money...$250+mill, 5yr, $50+mill per.

Maybe, I guess we'll see how well my post ages. The Packers don't move like the other teams in the NFL. I don't see them making Jordan Love the highest paid QB and player in the NFL after one good season. I feel like they'd tag him before they let that happen.

I had no skin in the game, as my team was eliminated many weeks ago..and not really a Detroit fan; I just remember spending many Thanksgiving weeks hunting in Maine, and only fuzzy channel we could get (antenna) was a CBS channel out of Bangor....Remember Detroit getting their ass handed to them on Thanksgiving day, by Dallas, Green Bay, whoever else they were losing to..

Time for them. Go Detroit.. Congrats..

The Purdy narrative is a lazy one. He didn't play his best ball, but delivered when it mattered. He was very good on that GW drive and he didn't turn the ball over all game. He outplayed Jordan Love, period. GB had all these opportunities, and Jordan Love should've capitalized, and he didn't.
He is a system quarterback……nothing more. Neither QB was real good last night.

I wouldn't say the narrative on Purdy is lazy, but more so a sign of the current sports reporting/journalism climate. Everyone wants a “Hot Take” for ratings. In reality, Purdy hasn’t proven sh*t but yet the media and fans are quick to compare him to Joe or Steve. The fact of the matter is – he hasn’t done sh*t. Furthermore, Love is in the same boat following the footsteps of Rodgers.

However, the game for Green Bay was lost on the coaching front. LaFleur lost the game by being aggressive on that 4 and 1. Stupid decision in my opinion. You go for the points in that situation to help your young QB out. Also, the kicker should have had that kick with no win. He came up short and that’s that.

A system quarterback sounds like a probable path to success. A lot of QBs are tagged as a system QB. Brady comes to mind. It's not Purdy's fault that he's paired with Shanahan and a stacked squad.

Fun fact, 16 college players got more money this season that Purdy.

Talk about value. He looked clutch in that last scoring drive, in pouring rain.

Somewhat….I mean Brady was never considered skill-wise one of the top quarterbacks. Now that being said, he was thrown into the best quarterback conversation in any given year for obvious reasons.

Purdy is definitely serviceable, don’t get me wrong. He is also only in his second year. I just bet yesterday was one of the first times he has the focus on him and we let him off the hook. We could have picked off 2 or 3 more of those passes but that’s the difference between winning and losing. Obviously it was a rainy game and that had some effect on both quarterbacks.

I guess what I’m saying is that if Purdy is the Packer QB then they probably aren’t that good whereas the Niners are as good or better with Love.

Yeah he won’t be the highest paid, that’s silly. However, hard to argue that he shouldn’t get what Herbert or Hurts got because what have they done? Not a lot. Yes, Hurts led them to the SB last year which is why he got that money….but they probably shouldn’t have signed him to a huge contract like that so soon. You also have to understand Love’s year this year was with all 1st and 2nd year receivers and a makeshift line. I’m not saying his stats this year will be his floor….but they certainly won’t be career highs. Hurts last year probably had a career year to be honest. I doubt he will ever be better.

So, yeah, hard to argue against Love not getting the same money as those guys if I’m his agent. I think he has showed enough and the playoff games were big. He showed he can play with all of these guys. Honestly, the QB position is a bit weak right now in this league. There are some good guys who have great years one year and then are mediocre the next (Hurts, Dak, Herbert, Allen, even Mahomes wasn’t great this year by his standards). I wouldn’t be surprised if Love is the best QB in the league next year.

Yeah, it's lazy and non-sensical. Purdy can win the SB and the naysayers will still be there. Hell, he can win multiple SBs and the tag will be there. It's such a stupid narrative. The focus should shift to wins and how players perform when it matters. What's most interesting is who the media and fans decide to hitch their wagon to. He hasn't done shit, but neither has Josh Allen and they're riding him like the rent is due. That guy is a loser. He's not even Jim Kelly. But the media and fans are in love with him and hype him up. All he does is dazzle with a bazooka of an arm and run around only to lose in the Playoffs. And somehow every year he's bailed out because it's someone else's fault the Bills are eliminated from the Playoffs.

Hard to put the GB loss on coaching. It's an easy out but I'm not seeing it. The reality is Jordan Love threw two INTs (one to end the game), fumbled and came up small against a "system quarterback" who played poorly. The coach didn't take the points because Anders Carlson cannot be trusted. I would've gone for it as well.

With all due respect, you sound like a butthurt Packers fan. That's not how team sports or reality work. You can't swap players around on that what-if tip. If the Charlotte Hornets don't trade the rights away to the Los Angeles Lakers on draft night in 1996 for Kobe Bryant he wouldn't be a household name. Or put Tom Brady on the Colts and Manning in New England and I bet sports history would look so different. It's a bad take and it sounds like something a child in middle school comes up with to make a point. The team you're on, the players around you, the coaching staff and ownership group are what they are. As a player you don't control that and you can't risk weight outcomes because of circumstances. The Packers lost to the 49ers, again, because they couldn't execute, full stop. You get better and try again next year.

Maybe he was portrayed that way at first but after that 2nd, 3rd, 4th superbowl ring on his way to 7 in total I think that narrative probably faded.

Bass missing that kick yesterday might have been one of the best things for Josh Allen and the bills organization since it's now easy just to blame the game on the missed kick. If Josh Allen had screwed up big time in that game the offseason would be incredibly tough for him. I agree with you that the media and lots of people are obsessed with how athletic he is and equate that athletic ability to being a great QB. There is so much more to it and it's also on the entire organization to come together and win games.

It's nauseating listening to the excuses. And what makes the missed kick excuse all the more delusional is the missed kick wasn't for the win! It was for the tie. Even if he makes the kick, BUF still has to win the game.

Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I'm about winning. Are you winning, yes or no? Brock Purdy, the alleged system quarterback, had a less than ideal showing on Saturday night. I don't dispute that. But on that last drive he was masterful. He made all the throws and the singular throw he didn't make, was dropped by George Kittle with nary a defender in sight. Do you want a guy who comes up big when it matters or do you want a guy who dazzles along the way but loses? I know who I'm picking.

I get what you are saying. I'm thinking more that the media and public will revert to blaming the missed kick and let Josh Allen and others off the hook. One thing I haven't seen mentioned here is the silly fake punt call by the Bills that did not work. If it had not been for Hardman fumbling through the endzone the game might have been more out of hand for the Bills.

So did anyone else notice the snowball thrown from the stands at the Bills game that nearly hit the Bills defender in the nuts? It was a 3rd and goal play I think on the Chiefs 2nd possession and Mahomes threw the ball over the receivers hands resulting in a 4th down. While the defender was leaping and reaching for the ball the snowball nearly slammed his scrote. Me and my boys watched the replay a few times and laughed our butts off.

Good point on both fronts. If Mecole Hardman scores that would have essentially been the knockout punch and the events after wouldn't have really mattered. The momentum swung back to BUF to take it when he fumbled, and they didn't.

I didn't see that, but I did notice there were a ton of snowballs being tossed as players got close enough. Nothing brings out the degenerate in a human being like the combination of alcohol, cold weather, and football.
