My "office" is the front seat of my truck. This particular morning I was looking out over St. Margarets Bay just outside Halifax.

We’re at Spa to watch the Grand Prix which has been on my bucket list for a very long time.

After a bit of rain this morning it cleared up enough for us to walk almost all the way round the 7km long track.

I was always fascinated with this photo (or whichever photo depicted this or a similar image back when in public school history books) of a weapon so powerful, it's capable of permanently removing and preserving the shadow of a human.
Please forgive my vivid imagination, as I was about 10 years old when I first saw / learned of this. Thoght process still remains, lol. Even back then, I thought the sword was the "best" (still my favorite) weapon created by man... but nothing says "power" than an atomic bomb falling from the sky.

I was probably about the same age when I watched video taken during testing of the destruction of buildings -- pretty horrifying footage. Some even came from inside houses with mannequins set and you could see the whole scene disintegrate. Pretty scary stuff for a 10-year-old.

So true!!
Learning about the world wars at that age is pretty otherworldly. Even as an adult with a much more realistic understanding of what those warriors when through, who has also served in combat during America's most recent campaigns myself, the service members who fought back then were just made of different stuff!
Then when the atomic bomb is introduced as a means to an end... well I can understand why Japan threw in the towel.
