So I couldn't watch the practice (work is a necessairy evil), but there were just pieces of bodywork flying off by sheer driving?
So not because of crashes?

That's rather worrisome... (thinking back to 2004 where Raikkonen lost his rear wing out of the blue...)

I still suspect merc. from sandbagging and HAM do at least a top 3 qualifying tomorrow with the usual story that the team worked really hard etc etc.
That happened too often before, that it looks like part of their strategy. Not that that matters ofcourse. Points are only given on sunday.

I knew this was going to happen, but I didn't know it was going to be this bad. Everyone will have to adjust their car throughout the season, but Mercedes seem to have the hardest time setting up their car versus everyone else. Will be interesting to see what happens on qualifying. But if Mercedes works out their aero, I think they have the best engine and they could run away with it like they did towards the end of last season.
Ferrari managed to squeeze the balls out of their engine though.
Ferrari has to be the talk of 2022 so far. They have made the biggest improvements, though it's not hard to improve from the last 2 seasons. But I still think Mercedes PU is the strongest in the field and more potential even from what we seen towards the end of last year. I could be wrong and wouldn't be surprised if Ferrari ends up being the "dark horse" of the season. LEC is probably by favourite driver - too likeable with so much potential and I would love to see him have more success especially with Ferrari.

They're already changing their floor back to the previous one. Porpoising was bad today.

How do you all feel about Rus v Ham? I'm hearing a lot of people, even before FP mentioning that Rus will beat him out but I really don't think he's going to beat Hamilton. I can't stand the guy but he's elite.

Russell is right up there with the best, in a real car or virtual one. It’s not by accident that he was able to get performances out of a Williams that few drivers would have been able to achieve.

Going to be an interesting season watching them both.

Redbull, Ferrari looking stronger than everyone else, Merc. Not fully showing their had but I can’t see them being on the front row.

I still see Lando as a superior driver to Russel.

The Merc setup although better than last week does not yet look well sorted. They may be holding back some performance, but I can’t see them getting P1 tomorrow. If they are sandbagging and get P1 they deserve an Oscar.

Hopefully I'm wrong and they are on the front row but we shall see.

We're going to have to wait and see what happens in FP3. They're going back to their previous floor so they'll have to work on adjustments from there. Very limited time.

I'm not sure, Russ finished ahead of HAM in both FP's so unless HAM slowed on purpose to open up tomorrow Russ is taking to the new car better.

You really should learn the rules.

https://us.motorsport.com/f1/news/wh...olice/6863922/

"Teams are free to modify their cars as they wish (within the rules) right up to the start of qualifying but as soon as the green light goes for Q1, all cars are placed under parc fermé conditions from then until the start of the race."

I see what you mean, that is some piece of kit to ''interrogate'' the car, there's no hiding place for anyone.

Does away with the old methods of measuring rulers and feeler gauges...that Merc liked there's a new boss in town.

I'm not familiar with the regulations but is Mercedes allowed to change their sidepod design to be consistent with the grid? Is there a time limit to how soon they would have to do it before being prohibited?
