Back in the 1970's, Jack-in-the-Box left the northeast USA and most of the east coast. They seem to have a presence around Charlotte, and there's one across the street from our hotel.

Ordered a sourdough patty melt burger, egg rolls, and mini tacos for dinner. The burger was awesome, the egg rolls good as a no-carbs side, and the mini tacos were meh. I'd go back for the burger any day.....

Inspired by Murf the Surf I went out and bought a Tomahawk steak. STEAK??? That's a friggin roast...!!!

Anyway, I have been looking at the best way to cook it on the BBQ. Any advice from the BBQ Masters is welcome.

Mine was yesterday. I had a nice lobster dinner with my sisters and nieces. No pics though. And I wish it was my 50th. It was my almost 60th. WTF?!?!?

Gas grill? It looks about an inch thick. I do medium rare. Heat the grill on high to 700 degrees. 3 minutes each side with cover closed. But if I remember correctly, you prefer your steaks still mooing. So maybe 2 minutes each side?

I just noticed the sticker. That’s not a steak, that’s a 3 pound side of beef. Rib eyes here are $20 USD per pound. Not sure about bone in. I buy boneless.

You have a good memory about my steak with a pulse. I went back and measured it: 2 inches thick and a few decimal points short of three pounds. (2.91451111 lbs. to be exact )

My little Weber BabyQ only goes to 500°. I guess I'll have to babysit this one closely.

Salt, then sear both sides under the broiler, on a hot skillet or on the grill, then finish in the oven to your desired temperature/doneness.
