Many moons ago, I saw Suzanne Vega performing in Brussels. Acoustic set: just herself and a guitarist. She explained her song "Caramel". She had already written the song, gave it a bossa nova vibe and used it for some movie soundtrack (slightly adapting it to the scene it would be used for). It's about longing for something and wishing for something you know you really shouldn't have. Caramel is the metaphor for the thing you long for, but you shouldn't really touch.

She'll be back in Brussels this October.

OK Esteban and M5Rick, this London woman is a breath of fresh air in the nowadays music industry. Smoky voice. Raw and straight-up. No sugar coated lyrics.

She currently went viral with her "Messy" song of 2024 (a song about a toxic boyfriend).

But check out this more rock-oriented song. What do you think ? If the music industry doesn't mess her up, she'll have a bright future.

"Young has spoken openly about her diagnosis with schizoaffective disorder at age 17. She has faced having recurring vocal cord cysts which has caused issues with her singing, resulting in having to cancel shows. She also has had mental health issues throughout her life."

Hope this doesn't shorten or end her career, or worse.

Last month, she cancelled last minute her sold out concert in Brussels (Botanique concert hall). The audience waiting for the concert to begin, was asked to leave because she didn't feel OK to perform. She also cancelled her Hamburg concert the next day. Both concerts are postponed to June. High demand - very busy schedule. But she's right to cancel if she doesn't feel well.
