It goes without saying my friend that the latest f1 gear and the drivers' extreme fitness program made GRO look like superhuman. A driver from the 1950s or sixties even in such a modern suit would probably not have made it out of there.

Yeah . As I said : These '2022 cars are (still) not safe enough to race with ...

The Mercedes 'Manta Ray needs a metal bar support to keep it together .

Hope they changed that today , because this can't be safe !

Max has stalked HAM and pulled out to streak past to leave 44 in his dust..the Merc is porpoising like ''Flipper'' the dolphin.

That said a chunk of bodywork flies of Russ's car, they won't need chemical cooling at this rate, plenty of wind going in.

Will FP1 ended and I learned nothing overall. The cars do look a bit better than last week.

They could be trying out new bodywork including floor swaps to see what gives more pace without too much jumping.

As I said Max thinks they are sandbagging to a certain extent but it's unusual for wolff to say they ''need to do a lot of work''.
Not sure how laser scanning comes into it and what it means.

Sticking with my original prediction of Redbull v Ferrari this season with Merc catching up in a few months.

Max vs Charles will be more entertaining and more intense than Max vs Ham. Really looking forward to this season and hoping that Ferrari continues strong. Haas looks incredible compared to last year.

Not ready to write off MB yet, I don’t think Lewis would have come back if the car was obviously terrible.

Sir Lewis P1 tomorrow wouldn’t surprise me in the least.

I also have a hard time doing this but their sidepod design just seems like they made a bad gamble and should have stuck to fundamentals like every other team. In any case, it's a brand new car so they won't be able to overcome their issues as fast as they did with the previous generation. It'll take them a few months but I'm confident Merc engineers are capable of it. I'm not sure if we'll even see Lewis on the podium this weekend. I think if they're lucky and have a good strategy he'll be P3 but just guessing here.

I agree but I expect them to speed up a little more in quali tomorrow.

FYI: The slowest 5 cars are Mercedes powered and there are 5 Ferrari engines in the top 10 as of end of FP2.

That should largely be contributed to the new car itself and not the PU. The PU is pretty much a carry over from last year so it shouldn't be that big of an issue (unless it's tuned wrong by the team).

I knew this was going to happen, but I didn't know it was going to be this bad. Everyone will have to adjust their car throughout the season, but Mercedes seem to have the hardest time setting up their car versus everyone else. Will be interesting to see what happens on qualifying. But if Mercedes works out their aero, I think they have the best engine and they could run away with it like they did towards the end of last season.
