I can understand suicides and depression in a place like Minnesota but I’d imagine Portland gets plenty of sun throughout the year. I moved here from Saigon, Vietnam when I was 7 so humidity never bothered me. The heat didn’t bother me here when I was in my teens, playing ball in the middle of the day even in summer but this shit is getting old now and I want more moderate temperatures. I looked into NC and they average some kind of precipitation 120 days a year which I’d prefer, and fresh seafood and more lakes and rivers to spend my free time fishing is a big draw for me. And it’d be nice to see more green day-to-day instead of dust and desert plants.

Plenty? No. Average of 245 days of rain a year, that’s absent the statistic for grey cloud cover. It’s atrocious. A short two hour jaunt to Astoria Oregon brings you to the city with the highest annual average rainfall in the United States. It isn’t like other places. It’s shit for 10 months a year average.

Yeah that whole area gets so much rain that I don't know how people live there. It is seriously depressing, I need the sun. My aunt lived up there, well Seattle but the whole Pacific Northwest is like that, and wouldn't doubt if it was probably part of the reason she was an alcoholic for many years.

Nah, I grew up in Seattle and at least the Summers were awesome. Actually Portland gets more rain than Seattle so there's that. I also enjoyed driving across the border up to Vancouver, BC which was a lot of fun as a college student.

If there's something I miss about the PAC NW, it's the nature. I'd kill to drive my bimmer to Mt. Rainier. I also really miss the ocean.

Yeah Seattle is only about 1/2 the year not 2/3 like Portland, but still that is wayy too much for me. I've never been to Canada, wouldn't mind but I have a little bit before they will let me across their borders lol.

Lol, huh? What do you mean?

What's really great about Seattle or Washington State in general is if you're into Winter sports, water skiing, hiking, biking, it has it all.

If you mean the border crossing part; I got a DUI 4 years or so back, Canada considers DUI's felonies and they won't let anyone with a felony into their county, so I have to wait 'til it drops off my record if I want to visit. Yes, stupid me...

Yeah seee I'm not a winter sports person at all, so no worries there. I've went snowboarding once, it was fun but I like my sun shine sports, like motocross, biking, and driving cars lol. We can do all that you mentioned right here in Nor-Cal also, don't need to go out of state. I live in the middle of all that, 1-2 hours east to go to the snow(in the winter), and 1-2 hours west to get to the ocean/a beach.

Ouch. I see. Hell, no one can even visit Canada these days unless you want to go through a torturous 2 week isolation. Ridiculous.

There'll be a bounty on my head for this, but I'm from New Jersey and I don't like Bruce Springsteen's music. I measure all bad songs by "Candy's Room" which is my tie for worst song ever with Paul Anka's "Having My Baby".

You're not the only one but I'm safe across the pond . Don't think there's even one Springsteen song on the song thread.

Nah, I'm from Jersey (47 yrs old) and not a Bruce fan. I mean I respect his success but its not my thing. I will jam to some Bon Jovi though.

Bruce Springsteen is awful.

I had way to many martinis last night and feel like shit this morning. My brain is so foggy and I'm behind on work so today is going to be a struggle bus kinda day:

It really depends where you live. When I was in Raleigh NC, yeah it rained a good bit, but I never felt like my life was deterred by it so much that I wanted to leave. In fact, it's my second favorite place to have lived, down here in Charleston is now in first. Originally from the north living in metro Detroit and Cleveland, the added rain / summer humidity / etc., is a billion times better than 6-8 months of cold shit weather.

Oh boy, so this is where all the Springsteen non-fans are? I’m from the west coast, went east for college (DC) and got severely abused for even saying things like “I don’t get why y’all love Springsteen so much”.

I was good friends with a group of three roommates who would break out the acoustic guitar and sing his songs late at night. Because I’m an asshole, i once ruined their little vibe with bursts of loud rap music, and i swear they got so mad that they tried to fight me

His album Born To Run got so much hype in the 70s, I had to buy it. It has to be good. I got it and played it, and I'm like, "I don't get it." lol

Clearly you're not the only one not to get it. I never bought a single Springsteen album and I'm proud of it. Lol. BTW, this song came out in 1975 at the same time the aforementioned album came out. I've always liked this mellow tune.... so yeah I confess that I like this.
