Yes, was 1968. Walked by this particular car several times, always stopping to look for a few minutes.

Found this on the web:

"If you find one of these vintage Plymouth muscle cars in “fair” shape today with a little work needed to get it back to former glory, you can still expect to spend $20,000 and $30,000. According to Hagerty, a Road Runner example in pristine shape will likely go for more than $75,000.” Aug 31, 2020

That was from 2020, so I imagine a pristine example would be worth more now.

Very depressing.
Several years ago my father-in-law perished at 90.

Whilst still among us, I frankly asked him whether he experienced approaching 90 difficult to cope with.

He replied that age-related physical issues didn't bother him much (it's an inevitable part of ageing), unlike coping with gradually losing all his friends of the past as time moved on - last man standing, outliving the rest.

He didn't disclose much about his early days leisure times, but hundreds of photos of many decades ago inside a drawer of his old desk locked with a key, as well as notes and phone numbers in old agendas inside that drawer, show that he had enjoyed life to the fullest in different places with friends before getting married. But he remained rather discreet about it, not talking about it. It was 'his' past.

I wonder how often he retreated to his chambers, quietly closed the door, cautiously unlocked the drawer of his desk, singled out a couple of pictures of his Facebook-avant-la-lettre and quietly beheld/stared at those 1950s/1960s scenes, recalling and reliving inside his mind joyful 'the world is my oyster' events of those days with friends, maybe shedding a tear over a lost friend featuring on those pictures.

My mother-in-law has only limited info: some people on pictures and names in agendas she recognizes - about some others she has no clue at all.

Looked something like this:
It is a nice car. The Road Runner and the Charger RT I really like, but they are huge cars compared to todays cars.
I was at a stop light last summer and there was a 60`s RT right beside me, that thing sounded so mean, and when he took off I swear it was as wide as the lane he was in

I looked it up just to see. The '68 Roadrunner is 76.4 inches wide which is more than 6 feet. Then I looked up a 2023 M3 which is 74.3 inches wide, also more than 6 feet. Not that different really.

The Roadrunner is 202.70 inches in length and the 2023 M3 is 189.1 inches in length, so the Roadrunner is only 2.1 inches wider, but it is 13.6 inches longer so more than a foot.

Thanks, but I was 13 then. I'm 68 now, and would prefer a modern car with all the safety features that come with it. That '68 Road Runner is better seen in pictures for someone like me. I have the means, but honestly at this time in my older years, I do not want. It would just sit in my garage and that would be a waste. Would not trust myself and the driving public without modern safety features.

PS - just noticed that I lusted after that car in '68, and I am now 68. lol

My wife died when I was 62. I live on a rural property and faced an issue with finding a new partner. I finally signed up for match.com and started dating. In my case, it worked out well in the end. Now that I'm about to hit 76, I don't think I'd want to do it again were the worst to happen.

Doctors Without Borders is an awesome solution!

Sorry to read that, m8.
I'd made the experience, the older I get, the less outer attraction of a woman counts, but the sum of the garbage we don't want to fight about is as small as could be is the top goal.

Been in love and married to the same girl since I was 20. Going on 48 years now. Nothing unhappy about it. Not too old but instead consider myself young at heart. Just don't want a car that might be dangerous to me. Sounds like smart thinking instead of doing something foolish. Good luck with Doctors Without Borders, or whatever your heart desires.

I know his routine. He usually starts posting about 11:30 am eastern time. I'm guessing he got up to pee and checked OT.

Compelled to comment when the subject is the old car hobby. It's been a focus of mine for 40 years now and I must say the driving enjoyment at the controls of an old car hasn't lessened at all for this 73 yr old. This is a '66 Triumph TR4A...just like the one I had in college.

Hahaha, you guys are funny...

Yes cmyx6go you know my schedule and you are right on the money.

No urine trouble. I get up once maybe twice to pee. This was the second time.

All the years with my lovely wife have been quality years. There have been some ups and downs but every marriage will have that.

As far as sitting shotgun, I could drive it myself for a cruise and be alright. Just not interested in owning it.

PS - don’t live in L.A. anymore. Moved away when I got married. Was fun when I was a kid but not anymore.

When a simple task like changing a light fixture becomes a major chore because it involves working with your hands above your head for more than 5 minutes.

What is it about working with your hands above your head that causes your heart rate to climb and sweat to pour? I feel like i just completed a serious rowing workout.

On the "old car" topic.

Don't get me wrong, I love my '22 M850 Convertible...it's has a lot of high tech, the B&W system sounds amazing, and it's fast. It's also.....soulless.

I've been thinking about a Ferrari F430 for a few years now, but lately prices have gone insane. A recent auction ending on BAT has given me hope though:

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2006-ferrari-f430-20/

Basically, I want an analogue gauge, Italian heritage sports car to own and really drive. NOT to be a garage queen. Talk about a soul! Ah, maybe one day.

I can't stand all the tech. Now I see some of the new cars are doing away with rear view and side view mirrors and replacing with cameras. WTF? So something goes haywire and I can't see behind me?

I'm seriously considering buying out my 2022 X6MC at lease end. Although this has more tech than I'd like, the 2025 will be worse and I don't think there are other options with less tech.

Get off my lawn.
