Being honest, I thought the same thing at first. Then I looked him up as I was genuinely curious as to who he was. After reading his bio, it's extremely impressive and I think he was a wonderful choice to give the interviews. Feel kind of shitty I'd never heard of the man before, but good for him.

I guess it's just a coincidence you're always there when there's a max/ham discussion because you're totally not interested in that
I don't need to convince you, I could care less about your opinion about me.

I wonder why I'm always around when there's a ham and max discuss, right because that's the only two drivers constantly brought up. Literally every thread is a hamilton bash about what he's doing, what he's wearing, what he looks like etc.

I also refer to more than one person while replying to one individual because they share the exact same talking point and general idea. It is more efficent than making multiple individual posts saying the same thing.

This is an extreme over simplification...

1) George was on the harder tire that has the durability to go long, so based on the information the team is giving him about laptimes and how well he is faring against Gasly (the driver he would fall in front of or behind of with after a pit stop) he can decide to extend. Since the lap times weren't dropping off for George it is an easy decision for him go long and hope for a safety car. Either way he would have to box and there wasn't much of a threat at the moment.

2) With Lewis the decision isn't easy, because he has many drivers close behind him that could also pit under vsc and he doesn't know if he should box under the vsc because he could lose positions and may not be able to regain it afterwards. He also doesn't know the lap time deltas with the others around him and if the softs can last till the end.

You guys make it sound so simplistic for a driver to decide if they should box but you don't hear the radio messages behind the scenes before hand. Also it isn't as simple as hope for a safety car or go in, there are so many drivers that can threaten your position and you don't know what their times or deltas are vs. how a new tire will behave and wear and the benefits of going in. There are literal super computers running millions of simulations of what outcomes are possible and you really think that a driver can make the better decision? LOL that is funny. Sure a driver can make the right call once or twice (and keep in mind this is based on data fed to them from the engineers based on computer simulations, and most of the time the engineers will tell the drivers a couple of ideas they have in mind and the driver can override a team decision and decide to go long to comfrom with plan B for instance but the driver is blind without the team and in reality isn't this all seeing master stratagist like you'd like to believe), but the majority if not every time it is the computer simulations and the entire team at the factory in race control that calls the shots. If drivers made better calls then strategy departments wouldn't exist.

The ferrari PU is very powerful. But the Ferrari's run much more wing than the RB's. Therefore they (ferrari) are very fast in the corners. But pay the price on the straights.
So imho partly it's a matter of choice.
But maybe the ferrari's loose grip really fast with less downforce and the RB's don't gain as much with more wing.
But being fast in corners and less fast on straights (and vice versa) makes sense to me and looks like a deliberate choice.

Red Bull creates much of its downforce with the floor, so a small rear wing can be used. Ferrari needs a bigger wing, but the PU is top in class for low, midrange acceleration.

Incredible how a drivers’s mindset creates opportunity. Russell has the rub of the green this year. He is scoring points and mega consistent in the race.

No team orders will upset Lewis, Toto will receive a scolding.

Only the thing more ridiculously embarrassing than the Austin race from last year with Shaq-n-caddy was the long ride with police escort and Willy T Ribs interview this race. Flipping embarrassing. USA continues it's klasslessness.

Aston playing fuel games?

Cooled fuel is a significant power advantage. Tricky AM.

I thought this was an instant DQ.

It's only a DQ if they arrived onto the grid like that. But they caught it in time.

Every team cools their fuel to the regulated minimum temp, so it's not am abnormal thing.

I suppose they were trying to time the fuel density with the start.

Sky sports Lewis post-race interview

Pretty scathing comment from Lewis about his team asking him if he would like to pit for tires during the VSC/safety car.

“That’s what your job is, make the decision for me – you’ve got all the details, I don’t. That’s what you rely on the guys for but today they gave it to me and I don’t understand it, but anyways…

“Just a bit unfortunate with the Safety Car but at least we got points today, we are finishing, reliability is good. I’m excited to, at some stage, take a step forward, which we haven’t yet.”

Body language tells the story.

Morale seems very low on his side of the garage.

He said “he doesn’t have the info to make the call” (he is right), “so that’s your call[team] to make the call, come on”

Lewis is silently #2 now. Part of that whole equation was him constantly throwing his team under the bus in public for making those decisions. - so they put it on him,... and he throws them under the bus for turning it back on him.

His team are simply returning his own medicine to him now that they have the future. Probably feels like therapy. It won't be spoken out loud for some time, but he is put out to pasture now. He will ilkely still win some races this year... but the looming future will be be a long, brutal lesson in how to "not be king" for Lewis.

When I saw his post race interview it confirmed to me things have changed in that garage. Not that he was right or wrong, it was his tone of voice directed towards his crew. I honestly think that yelling match with Toto was the beginning of the end. I really hope Netflix had them mic'd up on that day.
