Yeah that's the real rub, they'd have to essentially setup RUS to be an apprentice to HAM. It could really help George develop as a driver but having been the wonder boy at Williams the last few seasons it would be a tough transition.

Another part is how confident they are going into the new 2022 regulations. They might want that young driver to learn and develop them into the next phase.

I don't think there's any doubt at this point. Once HAM decides he's finished, I see him with a career at Brackley. But until then, regardless of who occupies the second seat, I see Mercedes trying to stack HAM with as many wins, records, WDC's as they can while grooming his replacement.

Agreed, 2009 was a Brawn championship.

There is no such thing as Verstappen's championship. He's a race winner when he has the fastest car on the track. Anything less and his previous record shows what will happen. A race win here on there. He doesn't have the experience or intelligence to mount a championship campaign. And, unfortunately for him, he has a cadre of nimrods around him in Darth Marko, Karen Horner, and company, who do nothing but blow sunshine up his butt.
