B58/S58 and the future G87 M2/M2C (2023): hm, N55/S55 of F87 M2/M2C déjà-vu likelihood or straightaway a detuned S58 of the G80 M3 / G82 M4 ?

I strongly suspect they’ll use the S58 in the G87 from the start because it allows them to go to a single I6 + 6MT configuration that covers everything. In fact, the business case for keeping the manual M cars for a (presumably) final generation was likely built around sharing the same engine/transmission across the three (M2/M3/M4) vehicle programs.

Is there a chance of an X3 20e, similar to the 320e, coming up as well? There is no corresponding X3 18i (I assume the 318i is the basis for the 320e), but I am not sure that would be a requirement, as it seems to mainly be a detuned 20i.

Makes me wonder if the Futura 2000 M2 Competition was the special M2 version.

M2 G87 - SOP is indeed 2023 (as stated in main posting)
It's coming with S58 engine (very reliable source).

ynguldyn can you say anything about the 48V tech in the UKL/FAAR cars, like the X1/X2 or the 1er? From your list it seems none of them get introduced this year, so I am wondering whether BMW has technical problems fitting them and/or they are tied to the CLAR platform (or the ZF HP8?) for some reason?

ynguldyn : do you have any ideia if this covid crisis will delay all SOP planned for 2020. Namely, do you think July models will be delayed?
Thanks. Regards

Finally some meat and potatoes after a long break: G70 lineup. Noticeably EV heavy.

Interesting.

So I guess i740 has the smallest battery, around 80kWh. The two others have larger battery around 120kWh and M60 version has several motors.

Great to finally see some details coming to light. Here are my thoughts:

735d: B57 48V - Compromise model falling between existing 30d and 40d? The only B57 model, or a new 745d compromise model falling between the existing 40d and discontinued 50d model coming later?

740i: B58 48V - Carryover or B58 TU2? I'd expect a B58 TU2 to usher in a "45i" nameplate.

745e: B58 PHEV - Carryover or upgraded with B58 TU2?

M750e: N63 PHEV? Given that "M45e" is a B58 PHEV reportedly coming to the X8, "M50e" is likely an N63 PHEV. However, why not "M55e" for better separation? Could "M50e" actually be the new name for "M45e", leaving an N63 PHEV model still unknown?

i740: 523hp 80kWh (same as i440)

i750: ~600hp? 100kWh?

i7 M60: ~700hp? 120kWh?

I hope you understand that no one can guarantee you that right now. Still, Germany is doing a great job containing the virus so there's a really good chance it'll show up in July as planned.

Makes sense. I have some good evidence that B57 will continue evolving.

TU2 but a lower level tune.

Same as 740i, hybridized.

Same new version of B58 that we'll see in M245i, hybridized.

Unlikely that powerful - will need two motors for that but it's a RWD model.

Can't even guess about these ones.

Interesting, I wonder what the range of the next i7er will be like. To me these full-size flagships always seemed like great road trip vehicles, but I feel like making it electric may change that.

Pretty sure the i740 and i750 will in fact be i7 40 and i7 50, huh? With a clearly isolated i7 badge on the vehicle (like i3 and i8). Just like an X3 30i is clearly badged as X3 (plus a smaller separate 30i designation), not X330i.

No, i740 and i750. Only the M Performance version will be this crazy "i7 M60 xDrive" thing.

This is in line with i430 and i440 names for the G26 BEV.
