I didn't get any freebies, but I did get a 25% discount on all my "Extras". Mats, M Badges, Sill Plates, etc. Plus I got a 50% discount on the extended warranty for EU to cover 4 years here until I get back to the states because my car comes with a 4 year warranty in the US, but only 3 year warranty here in the EU.

lol, why am I suddenly filled with dread. I shall report back and edit as needed. (After reading) Oh, THAT post. Oh trust, me here, I have zero expectations anymore. BMW has crushed that naivete from my soul, and smiled as it blew it from its hand, like dust on the winds of time.

It could set there for 12 weeks in Bremerhaven, 16 in Baltimore, and arrive at my dealer July. Just in time for me to reject delivery and order a MY26 or pick the new Audi S7 instead.

How long does the port typically take? I know it’s been so variable for many people.

Depends on volume and carrier availability. Assuming no work to be done, I would say three days to a week.

When they start building them, they really do knock them out quickly!

Hopefully delivery will go smoothly. Uk isn’t too far to travel to.

Let’s see 👍
Along with another status update (now 190), comes another delay by another week.

Deep breath and carry on….

Update from me. Picking car up on Monday 18th Nov. Arrived at my local dealership south Wales on Thursday 14th Nov. Not too bad considering order placed on 25th Sep. The wait was a month till it went into build WK43. I believe production date was classed as 28th Oct when assembly was completed and going through quality check / control. It then left Dingolfing around 29th/30th Oct to Cuxhaven Port. Got onto Autostar vessel and at sea on Monday 4th Nov and arriving in Southampton on 6th Nov and then over a week there until arrival on 14th Nov.
I’ve been lucky that the transportation from Dingolfing to Southampton was quite quick. Still getting car about 2 weeks earlier than informed at order time when it was late Nov WK48 / early Dec WK 49.

You know, I was asking myself today if I have a right to be disappointed with the whole manufacturing/ordering process. And I think that answer is, Yes.

I’d really like to know why someone who ordered the same vehicle I did, that was scheduled for manufacturing 10 weeks after mine, was completed in 24 hours and is now at the same status.

Ironically, we will likely receive them at similar times. I think when the entire process is completed, I’m going to pen a letter to someone in a C Suite
So I didn’t try to look through the requests you made for order information and build status. I do see that you added 4NB to your order. Do you think that was a factor? In the US, that changes things to a BMW Individual order and when I inquired at a dealer about that, I was given a variable range of signifcant additional delay, which actually easily encompasses the dead time your order was stuck in QC. I believe that in other countries 4NB is on the configurator menu (ex. In UK it’s included in option “packs”) and doesn’t escalate to Individual to get it. So ignoring transport time, a UK order might easily outstrip yours in production because there’s no BMW Individual queue to sit in or logistics to deal with.

I’ve thought about the impact of the 4 zone climate control as well, prior to going through BMW individual and ordering it. My thought at the time was that since 4NB was offered as an option in every other market, that it wouldn’t be impacting, since it was a readily available part, but that’s purely speculation on my part.

I’d love to know more about the assembly line process. It would be interesting to know how the work is organized. Are their dedicated European production lines? U.S production lines? Model specific production lines?

But to your point, if that addition resulted in additional time, I may never know. I believe we did have other people in the thread with 540’s produced around the same time, who did not have Euro options that were in quality check for the exact same time period of 8 weeks. Perhaps someone else from weeks 35-37 can weigh in on if their extended QC time also involved a special order item.

I’m more inclined to believe that it was due to the massive production and distribution snags during the time frame that caused a ripple effect, or a strategic decision to hold back 540 production for some unknown reason; again, also speculation 😊
