Sitting here in Sydney on holiday, watching Monday morning football. Seems so weird. Pats kicked ass, Seattle squeaked by by a hair and some bad calls.
I'm calling a New England AFC Champ. Yeah, it's early still, and injuries change things, but the Pats already dealt with that early and proved they can still win when roster-challenged. |

SEA v. ATL Call/No Call controversy: (a reasonable homers perspective)
Do keep in mind that this was a 4th & 10 (Hail Mary'esque) from their own 18. Momentum had completely shifted, the Falcons got the ball with 1:57 on the clock and they couldn't get a single yard. They let fly out of desperation hoping to get a call and, if really lucky, a reception. (Real) Refs are loathe to make that call deciding the game, particularly for a team that was floundering, hoping desperately for something to happen. Yes, I agree technically it was a PI but all 3 were contending for the ball, at full speed and had with their heads turned towards the ball. If Sherm and Thomas had plowed into the receiver instead of playing the ball the outcome would have been different. I also believe that if the ball was a little closer and he didn't have to reach for it, it would have made the hold more obvious in that he couldn't bring his right arm up. As it was with the receiver having to reach out for the ball made it look like he was one handing it. Seattle dominated for 3 qtrs, particularly the Defense. If the Offense would have been on par it would have been 34-3 at half. I credit some brilliant halftime adjustments on the part of Shanahan and Quinn to exploit some huge holes (receivers were completely uncovered) and the Hawks were slow to adjust. This is what had Sherman losing it on the sideline as the scoring plays were almost identical. Once the Hawks adjusted in the 4th it was lights out again. This was Atlanta's last play of the game, if they didn't connect or get a call it was over. Generally, the game was really physical overall and the refs were letting them play. So I was surprised that Quinn would put all his eggs in one basket, throwing into double coverage, 50yds down the field with 1:34 left on the clock. Why not chose something with a higher % of completion with the game on the line? Side note: Totally impressed with Dallas, I think Romo is done. |

Since my team won't win more than 7-8 games this season (yet again) I'm bandwagoning for Brady the GOAT and America's Team.
Oh and anybody but Seattle. |

The Dallas defense has really stepped up this year. McLain and Claiborne have made some great plays! The secondary has shut down our opposition's top receivers. If we can just get the pass rush going thatd be great!

Lol I lived in Seattle for 10 years until recently and I dislike them for a number of reasons. Not trying to get into it with anyone, but (a) a lot of the players don't demonstrate class, (b) Pete Carroll is shady, and (c) they have such a bandwagony fanbase. Aside from the core of fans that filled the stadium on Sundays I never noticed anybody care about the Hawks until the Wilson/Carroll/Lynch era. When I lived there, I never got the impression Seattle was a sports town. Even the Seattle Times once wrote the region is fair-weather when it comes to sports. Folks are mostly techies who care more about their gadgets.
Besides that and the weather, I enjoyed my time there and still visit regularly. |

I do not agree. But after thinking about it for a moment, I can see why: The guy has really carried this lackluster team for all these years. We'd probably have worse than 8-8 records without him. His stats do speak volumes! He's a class act. Unlike alot of these premadonna, asshole QB types, he's actually funny and humble. I'd like to see him at least reach the Super Bowl if not win. But mostly why he will start again is the loyalty and bromamce between he and the owner Jerry Jones! If I'm running shit there... I'm riding with Dak until the young man can't play! Yes! The Defense is surprisingly great. Not good, great! I sure as heck didn't think we'd be a Top 10 Defense but we are. And that play is very visible. If Dallas could somehow acquire a stud Pass rusher and solid Linebacker this season, they easily are favorites to reach and win the Super Bowl. Because the offense is unstoppable. |

For me, the biggest surprise has been the secondary and Dak. How many times have we lamented the play of Carr and Claiborne over the last few years? Now, they are both hardly ever mentioned (especially Carr), which tells me they have been superb.

As a native Seattleite, I'm proud that my city can enjoy as a community the better times as a franchise- because even though most have only come around say in the last 5 years- during football season, NO city gets hyped like we do (anyone who visits Seattle right now can attest to this) "Bandwagon fans" don't bother me as long as you stay on board, but none of this back and forth mess- My father would take me to home games way back in the day at the kingdome so I was born into my loyalty- but sometimes others just never paid attention to us until things were good. Seattle does have a ton of other beautiful things to offer (which you can cosign to)

Absolutely! I am the first to admit that I have wanted them BOTH outta here! They have flat out sucked and have been "walking penalties" and Carr has gotten burned many times. But they have been exceptional this season. Claiborne I know has heard tons of criticism that he is a "bust". Looks like he is finally playing to his # 6 overall pick!

Anyone getting up at 630am PDT to watch the Rams v. Giants London game on Sunday?
I'll be jetlagged, but will be on the sidelines. This should be interesting for a first game at Twickenham.

Is anyone talking about this??
On the now infamous no call, Julio Jones straight up punched Sherman in the head off the line to get open. I had no idea until one of my colleagues pointed it out. It was blatant, right in front of the sideline ref. Perhaps that's yet another reason that the PI wasn't called. Check it out @1:18

I'm very disappointed that Big Ben is no playing, I'm tired of these tomatoe can games. There are only 8 real teams in the NFL worth watching. I thought the patriots were going to b tested. That guy is always banged up
Did you see the jets game and how pathetic is was. The flags make it unbearable to watch mediocre play.

I can guess to the cause of NFL rating being down 10% or more. 2 things, actually:
Oversaturation of the market. Too many games on TV. I hate Thursday night football. Too many dinky passes. Too many teams make the little dink pass instead of running the ball. I see stats every week where a QB is going 23/41 but only getting 230 passing yards. Really? I hate the little 2 or 3 yard dink passes. |
