My aunt from New Mexico was up the other night - apparently no one in her town has heard of butter tarts. Seems odd to me, but it brings the question - what delicious foods am I missing out on because I don't know they exist?
So have you heard of butter tarts, and what are some foods which are favourites, which might not have made it to Canada? |

A soup of pork and hominy, of Mexican origins. I myself prefer the "white/clear" broth my wife and her family makes. Most make it with a red/tomato broth.
Typically, I put cabbage, cilantro, and lemon or lime in the bottom of the bowl first. Then ladle in some soup, and top with a spicy salsa. It's similar to menudo (can't eat that stuff) but has pork shoulder instead of tripe as the meat. |
