They worked better when you ran them under cold water for a second top and bottom. I have to say the plastic ones that you twist are much better.
Now the ice cubes come out of the refrigerator door.

Who woulda thunk it.

I remember all 18 also, big plus on the metal ice trays.

If you remember PF Flyers, how about Keds and Red Ball Jets?

...Or you lost a piece of your fingertip trying to pry the lever up with a kitchen utensil. True story, and I've got the scar to prove it.....

Wow! Good job. Supposedly it is Marilyn Monroe, but she certainly looks different. Reference: https://www.bing.com/images/search?q...mageHoverTitle

The info about this being Marilyn on that site is incorrect. This is indeed Theda. The pic is a publicity promo for the movie Cleopatra which was shot in 1917. She was quite the "vamp" (anyone remember this term?) for her day. Grrr! I would certainly "come hither"...and "thither" and "yon" to boot!

#whippersnappers don't get to do the highly rigorous experiment of putting one tray full of COLD water, and one of HOT, and see which one freezes solid first.

Nor testing to see: is the water frozen all the way through, or do you need to wait another 10 minutes to have a solid cube.

Nope, just walk up to the fridge, press your glass against the lever and out comes . . . wtf? DAAAAD, the ice is broken!!!!!

wait, there's more:

....and you get excited to see a new bird so you identify it on Merlin or Google images and add that new bird to your list of birds you can identify, only to forget and look it up again next time it comes to visit.

Yes, I agree with you. Even thought they say on that site it is Marilyn as Theda that doesn't look like Marilyn. I would know Marilyn Monroe no matter the makeup or costume. At least I think I would.

When I was a kid we used to make popsicles in the ice cube trays. Just pour orange juice or kool-aid in the tray. Cover the tray with plastic wrap so you could stick a toothpick through the wrap (so the toothpick would stand up) in the center of each section and freeze overnight. Was a nice treat in the summertime.

Oh, I talk to "chickenfren" all the time when I go out there. She jumps up on the edge of the storage as I dig into the bags. I let her eat directly from the cracked corn scoop for about 15-20 seconds, pet her a little, then toss the scoop onto the ground for others to get a scratch in as well. Then I fill up the bowls with lay crumbles, and gobble over towards turkey-lurkey.

On the way back towards the house, I usually say a few words to the avocado tree, touch some plants in the garden, then give the wife a smack on the lips (or butt, depending on which way she is looking)

The kids reading this post will not understand. I sure would not have believed that I would be happily talking to birds. It's a great time of life and I'm loving it.

We had one of these high tech Tupperware popsicle molds when I was a kid.
