Season 2 of HOTD will be excellent in my opinion, as that's when the source material really comes alive. Season 1 is mainly setup for the Dance of the Dragons as this season's material plays a smaller part of the book, hence why they had to include many time jumps. This week's finale will kick off the dance with a bang, and season 2 will be bringing the action!

As for character complaints, George RR Martin has gone on record saying the characters of Fire And Blood are very much "gray" and they are not the most root worthy. I do wish to see more of the Green's though in the series, specifically Aegon II and his dragon Sunfyre which plays a large part in the books, and is supposed to be one of the most beautiful dragons in all of Westeros. They showed a small glimpse of Sunfyre in episode 7, but was originally also part of Aegon II's coronation in the books, which was obviously changed for Rhaeny's scene.

I watched the first episode of Succession some time ago and wasn't really getting into it. So last night we were looking for something else to start, we were going through options and my wife liked the description so we gave it a shot. Watched 3 episodes and my wife only nodded off for about 10 minutes. In my world that's 2 thumbs up.

Neither of us liked it. The acting was abysmal, just so bad.

agreed. i just dont get how it's winning so many awards.

and anyone thinking house of dragons has unlikeable characters? FFS...succession is the worst. there's not a single character that i wanted to root for. i really rooted for a drone strike when they were all in one place trying to eff each other over.

I'm kind of enjoying the fact that they are all unlikable. It's a bit of a departure from the norm.

We finished the miniseries "The Watcher" on Netflix last night.

I think they probably could have made it 1-2 episodes shorter than the 7 it is. Interesting watch with lots of twists and turns, but overall when it ended I was just like, "Meh."

Currently watching season 3 of locke and key on netflix. If you have a great imagination then it's a good watch. Before this we just finished all the current seasons of manifest (had to use a German vpn to access it in the UK)

I was impulsive and watched the leak. Some interesting changes made from the book. An excellent episode, but man, its gonna be two years before more HOTD and that just makes me sad! Time to rewatch GoT maybe, although stop at season 7

I wanted to start it, but I have read nothing but negative reviews online in regards to the poor writing, as well as the final episode and lackluster twist (if you can call it that). Typical Ryan Murphy. He was great back in the heyday of Nip/Tuck, Glee, and AHS, but someone needs to take away his writing privileges and just restaff the entire writers room. It seems like of his $300M+ Netflix deal, the only success so far has been the Ratched and Dahmer series, the latter of which has also been the only decent series that he's had a writing credit on in years.

Well I haven’t made it all the way through yet so can’t comment on the final episode. We’re going to stick with it at least for now.

One of the changes I personally enjoy is that they are adding more depth to Viserys and Aemond. George RR Martin himself praised Paddy Considine for giving Viserys a tragic edge that was not featured in his writing. I also like the idea of Alicent being friends and the same age as Rhaenyra, as in the books she is older, this adds a greater betrayal to their relationship in my opinion. That being said, I do wish we see more of Aegon II's dragon Sunfyre, as he will be very important, and is also referred to as one of the most beautiful dragons to have lived.

I personally cannot wait for the dance to be in full force, the Targaryen Civil War will be incredibly devastating, with many sad deaths and battles ahead of us. Martin has said that in order to fully flesh out the series, he thinks that four seasons should be able to cover it. The dance itself is only roughly two years, although I have a feeling they may change that for the series as the ages of some of the characters may not work at the moment for some of the scenes/results of the war. They should also be introducing new characters next season including Alicent and Viserys' fourth child Daeron who they have strangely decided to not mention at all in the first season despite his prominent role within the dance.

Season Finale of HOTD was bittersweet...

Absolutely brutal to have to wait another year.

A year? Try two at this rate. They haven't begun filming for season 2 yet, we're in for the long ride!

Definitely worth reading Fire and Blood in the meantime for those who do wanna know how the Dance of the Dragons concludes without having to wait.

Luckily next week The White Lotus starts back up so Sundays should still be fun with HBO.

Murderville is pretty funny, wife and I started it tonight and watched 3 episodes. Reminds me of SNL with people breaking character, we were laughing pretty good at some parts. Show is scripted, it's a murder mystery, and there is a celebrity guest in every episode who is given ZERO lines or context, they are just thrown in the episode, go along with everything, and have to guess who (of the 3 suspects they've seen) committed the crime.
