I hardly ever shoot my 500mm bare anymore. Even though it's a huge battle to AF my 5D MkIII with the 2.0x TC-III on it, it's on about 90% of the time and I "step down" to the 1.4x when I absolutely have to have more AF speed. The extra pixels on the subject just make a huge difference.

What are you going to go see? Go to Ft. Baker/Battery Spencer/Conzelman road for night shots of the GG Bridge. Battery Townsley if you want to see the barrel of a 16"/50 cal naval gun. Just like those on the Iowa class battleships.

Chamber of Commerce days; morning fog and clouds, afternoon sun and "breeze" (unless you're on the water or something, then it's a wind).

O-Toro was great last night. The Otoro Sashimi was the REAL THING with nice, thick slices.

I miss those falls. One of my favorite photos from that trip was where I'm peering over the edge on that bridge.

I know what you mean, but I vote for this "realistic" presentation. The smooth water has really become "the standard" these days, but I like seeing this look occasionally.

The DR is so high here that he'd really need a strong GND filter to balance out the light.
