Another great win for my team in red, they are definitely looking like the class of the field
Charles walking away from Max certainly was surprising. The race pace and tire wear of the Ferraris are very good. Had there been no Safety Cars and Max didn’t retire, Charles probably still would have won by 20+ seconds. RB needs to get their reliability under control. Carlos should have been more patient at the beginning knowing the car had the pace to carve through the midfield field and possibly get to P4 by the end behind the RBs. He needs to realize it’s a long race, play the long game and take chances where necessary. Also a welcomed surprise to see McClaren doing well here, the pace came out of nowhere while Haas and Alfa just lost a bunch of performance. Just a weird weekend overall for the teams outside of the top three. |

Looking more like a possible fuel supply issue with Max's car, a burst pipe or union with some flames seen there.

Great result for LEC: pole position, victory, fastest lap, Driver Of The Day, leading all laps. Well-deserved and good to see him increasing the gap in the WDC standings.
Also a nice result for RUS. Glad that he didn't get team orders in the final laps to let slower HAM pass. The sherpa was quicker than the master. Looks like HAM was fishing for getting a pass when complaining in the ultimate laps over the on-board radio that he felt being "put into a difficult position". Mercedes-AMG apparently didn't rain on RUS's parade to celebrate P3 on the podium. Possibly it starts to dawn at Merc-AMG that 'young warrior' RUS will keep outperforming 'old warrior' HAM. True that HAM has all those records and vast experience, but it's 2022 now and it looks like HAM's age starts to take its toll (impact his performance). His position at the top of the pecking order has toppled. Possibly, changes on VER's car in Parc Fermé ahead of the race could explain his DNF. He radioed "I smell some weird fluid" and was ordered to switch off the car. |

Finally he has a "good" car even though it is a pile of crap, it is still better than williams. Quote:
I feel bad for carlos, but he really should have taken it easy like you said and just hung back and make his way back up the order. In the very worst there would have been enough pace for P4 which would have actually been p3 this race. Quote:
In other notes, Perez who was known for being gentle on the tires doing 51 laps out of the 66 on the medium tires at the portugese GP was topped today by albon who essentially did the entire australian GP on one set of tires lol. Now that was impressive.

IMO It's not a good look how many things needed to be changed.

In terms of fixing it, maybe they will, but it seems like the rebull PU has more issues that are always ready to pop out of nowhere and the team don't have a full comprehensive understand of what is going on with it yet. If they did there wouldn't be 2 fuelling related issues in a row, and steering failures on the alpha tauri and redbull, and MGUK issues on the alpha. So if you want me to be honest I think there will likely be more issues down the road with redbull, it feels like they have some underlying issues with their pu and this isn't good when it is locked in. But the thing that impressed me today was how fast the ferrari was, and how Albon when the entire GP on one set of hards.

A bit more news I've seen is that this problem on Max's car is totally separate from the Bahrain one, I guess more details to follow.

This "changing of the guard" is so welcoming to see...I'll take these three on the podium every time.

Seems as through the hard tire is actually made by Michelin. Last week Hamilton could have finished the race with no stop and only stopped because he had to and same with Albon this week.
Overall a sleepy race, Ferrari is to fast for everyone. Somehow Merc is second in the constructors championship. |

Especially with the budget cuts and limited windtunnel time. But the 2 DNF for VER gives LEC already such a lead in the WDC that it'll be very hard if not impossible to to surpass him this year sadly.

Not quite accurate of course as VER had to retire due to mechanical failure.
A meme like that would be more accurate if beaten on track till the end like the race before.

But you didn't predict LEC to win
I did In fact, if you take my prediction from 2 weeks ago, and leave out the ones that DNF (2 in my top 5), my prediction was 100%

When asked what it's like having the lead in the chase for the championship, Charles replied...
"I've been in this situation in the junior categories before but then to be in this situation in Formula One means a lot, and especially after the last few years, and especially with a team like Ferrari," Leclerc said on Sunday. "So it feels incredible. "The mindset is a bit different compared to the last two years because now I know that underneath me I've got a car that is capable of winning and I don't really have to overdo things or to do something extremely special and spectacular to actually get one or two positions, because I know that it's in the car and I just have to do the job. So the mindset is a little bit different this year. "And then to keep up with Red Bull in terms of development is going to be difficult, but yeah, it's the same team that did this car, that will work on the development for this year's car, so I am confident. There is no reason for us to be on the back foot because we've done a great job, all the guys at Maranello [Ferrari's HQ] have done a great job, building up this car for this year." |
