It is highly likely that they are not. I have never seen a case where the pricing someone got during the purchase was less than some other dealers were offering. Yours could be the exception to the rule but you probably want to shop around to make sure.

Congratulations to Todd! I am very happy for you. I like the first picture most, but both are very cool. Did you create them with DALL-E? Looks AI generated to me. :-) Still fantastic though!

Thanks for sharing the pricing! I know there’s a guy on the forum that offers competitive extended warranty pricing. I would reach out to him and provide him with your VIN number to see how this compares to what your dealer is offering.

Check out this thread for some contacts of people you can reach out to to provide you with them:

I am inclined to consider the extended warranty, given the number of years that I plan on keeping the vehicle. I’m a pretty low mileage driver, so I would never opt for more than 84 mo/75k. Are you saying the pricing he’s being offered isn’t an accurate reflection of BMW’s current plans? Like is this the “basic tier” price and there’s a higher tier? I’m confused.

Haha thanks! Definitely AI generated. I actually used Microsoft designer. They are now experimenting with an AI creative design designer in the package, so I took advantage of it.

What I want to know, after looking at the pricing that the dealer provided you and comparing it to the brochure that’s on BMW’s website, is if the quote is for “Platinum” coverage or “Powertrain” coverage.

I asked that very question right away when I received the info and they responded back to me with the quoted prices shown for the extended protection warranty is for the Platinum plan.

I didn't even look at the pricing he was given since without comparing it to other pricing it is meaningless to try and conclude anything about it. Just was making sure he shopped around if he was considering getting one.

What I was saying is that the brochure he was given is out of date and does not reflect the coverage that is currently being offered.

Getting a Vehicle Service contract rarely makes financial sense. Where it does provide value is to those who like the peace of mind that should something that is covered break they won't have to pay.

Okay, got it! I’d love to have the current brochure to take a look at it. I have no idea if the various issues the forum members report are any indication of a “sampling” of the G60’s overall health and quality. I’d like to see the JD Power initial reliability reports once the data is available.

I’ve never purchased VSC before with any vehicle but given that SkyKing just has a sun visor LED go out, which required the replacement of the entire visor (>$300), the random LED screen blackouts, etc. I might actually consider it.

Thank you! I think getting quotes from the sources on here would be a good place to start. At least at that point you’ll have some context. I’ll do the same.

This is my position as well. Extended warranty can make sense if you plan to keep the vehicle, but you can purchase that before the end of the factory warranty. Service plans don’t usually make sense, because you are paying up front for service you may or may not use. It makes better sense to pay at time of service for what you need.

Generally it is best to seperate the purchase of the vehicle from service plans and extended warranties, because it is more cash outlay all at once and later you have time to shop more competitively for coverages.

I agree. My past purchases I have always turned down all this and took the prices they provided me for some of this and held on to that money and pocketed away to earn at least couple hundred dollars in interest by the time I need to make a decision on purchasing it or just pull from that bucket to pay for any service or work.

I do the same a you. In other words, the Finance Managers generally don't like me.

I would be more inclined to believe that these are internal rescheduling matters by BMW. It does make sense, though, as they literally have hundreds of thousands of vehicles across the world in various states of assembly, delivery and shipment that are all snagged up due to the recall crisis.

I’d be curious to know how many vehicles are taking up space in shipping ports across the world that are preventing vehicles at the factory from advancing forward.
My vehicle escaped quality control last Friday. I am setting up lawn chairs, etc. in the “waiingt for carrier assignment” having been there a week now. I also think it must be due to back logs at the ports.

This gives me hope that mine will move from 182 today or tomorrow. Been there since 11/1.

I’m not sure I still believe quality check is what it proclaims to be in its entirety. It’s way to convenient that multiple people’s vehicles switched to “Awaiting Carrier Assignment” on the exact date they reached 8 weeks of QC delay. I’m more inclined to believe they simply don’t want to ship the cars to early because there are still MY24 on lots. People who specifically order the next model year get caught up in this process, and while we might get our car a few weeks before dealer inventory arrives, it could be by design. Speculation on my part, but the pattern is there.

Moved to 151 today.

Two weeks at 150 and I was starting to worry. Glad to see it moving.

Little movement, but glad to see it. Maybe the next few steps are a little quicker…

Call the genius line and they can tell you where your car boarded the ship, what ship, etc. Congrats on the movement!

Did the genius tell you at which port it was loaded onto the ship? Just curious, given the recent discussions about Belgium vs. Germany for port loading.

My guess its already out to sea on a vessel that left port a couple days ago. That was my experience. I didn't get the in transit status until the vessel was already a couple days into the voyage.
