What do you mean what.the.f**k??
We got x7, x2, x3m, 2 gc and 4k lbs 3 series while chevy was developing c8. Also don't forget z28 and zl1. P put 4 cyl in cayman - awesome stuff P!! BMW really lost it. I don't care about the sales of x models. they lost their balls! They should have put monster engine in the I8 to make it m8. Instead we get x3m ... embarrassing! |

Who cares. Like every generation Corvette eventually these will be sitting around unsold at Chevy dealerships with "$10k off!!!" stickers after a year or two.
I grew up in Detroit. Every generation was "sold out" in the beginning...then everyone loses interest. Lol

The new corvette is hard to beat. With 911s now starting at nearly $100k, I have no idea why you someone might think that would be $40k better. Dealership experience, fit/finish, is probably better in the Porsche, but not worth the price premium. The new M4 is also going to be hard to get excited over. Even without the Z51 package, there is no doubt in my mind it’s going to run circles around it’s competitors.
At the end of the day this is a good thing. It’s going to force the competition to get better as well. This car is going to be living proof that you don’t need AWD to make a straight line fast car, which is great for me since I really don’t ever want AWD. |

This Vette is truly a performance bargain of the year! Props to GM for building it.
I just hope it doesn't have the build quality or material feel(cheap hard plastics) of a Cobolt. Dackel

Agreed. I'm sure it will have minor things here and there but hopefully not as bad as the cooling issues they had with the C7 Z06. Either way I am proud of Chevy. America baby!

Then again, BMW has so much plastic in the interior now, it's not the most silent car either. |

The car is just not a looker IMO. IT LOOKS like a cheap AC DELCO cross between a Ferrari 360 and the new NSX. WHO cares if it’s faster than my M3. I have kids. I would never buy that thing.

Wait, you're telling me a focused sports car with a big, powerful, naturally-aspirated engine mounted directly behind the driver that can do 0-60 in under 3 seconds and goes for $60-$70k will actually sell? You're kidding.
I have my reservations on this new model, but it's still mind blowing how long the industry has gone without someone stepping up to the plate and giving the world a car like this. It's as if these car companies never hired engineers and never wanted to make money. Kudos to Chevy for giving a big middle finger to the industry and finally giving the motoring world what it deserves!

While I don't disagree with you, as long as it doesn't melt over during a hot 2-day HPDE weekend, it will have served its purpose and served it well.

My father is one who tracks his car while in his 70s... He has a 50th Anniversary Mustang GT (MT) with some mild mods.

Good point and I'll add... brought the first extended-range electric car to the market (Volt) and delivered the first long-range, 238-mile EV to the market (Bolt). BMW's first EV.. 80 miles; BMW's first extended-range EV... 120 miles (if no hills). BMW had barely finished paying off EPA fines when GM introduced the Volt

I've always bought a generation behind as I usually end up dumping mod money into them. Have always had a Corvette as a 2nd car as soon as I was financially to do so!

So I haven't read everything on the C8, but what is the base car's 0 - 60 time, 3.8 - 4.0 seconds? For under $70K, mid engine, handles like a, well, a Corvette, I'd take it sans traction management system.
