Carlos on team radio said "they're never going to get to the end!". I think Ferrari also expected everybody to do a 1 stopper but it turns out everybody else thought it wasn't possible.
Charles said he wasn't sure whether it was possible due to the other teams reporting front left degradation, but he said that was the only way to win so he gave it a go and it worked. |

Found this: Carlos Sainz has detailed the "crisis" he dealt with during the Italian Grand Prix, as Charles Leclerc stormed to victory in front of the Tifosi. The Spanish driver, revealed that whilst Ferrari's rivals were peeling in for their second round of pit stops, his Pirellis reached a critical point, which they "miraculously recovered" from. Having started fifth at Monza, Sainz, who like Leclerc only stopped once, spent most of his afternoon in contention for a podium after George Russell fell down the order with damage on lap one. However, Ferrari opted to run him longer into the grand prix than his team-mate and the McLarens, which ultimately cost him race time and the chance to visit the rostrum on his final Italian Grand Prix for the Scuderia. Whilst Leclerc triumphed, 29-year-old said there was a period of the race when he did not believe the aggressive, and ultimately race-winning, one-stop strategy would be possible. "For some reason, Charles [Leclerc] and I went through a phase of high degradation on the hards [tyres]. "And then they miraculously recovered, and that's what allowed us to go to the end. "But there was a point when the others started boxing that the tyre was really in crisis, but then the last 10 laps, the tyre recovered, and we could keep a decent pace to the end." |

According to a commentator, first the tires grain, like a bubble wrap forming, and then sometimes the graining just goes away and the tire becomes smooth again. A very weird but well known phenomenon.

My own opinion could Lando catch Max, sure he’s not mathematically out of it. Is it realistic, I’d and I’m sure most would say no. Max would have to go on a run of DNFs and I still don’t think his car is that bad that he won’t be on podiums the rest of the year. It wouldn’t surprise me if he got a couple of more wins either. So I think McLaren is kicking the can down the road and don’t want to make the decision yet as to who is the top driver. Next year if they come out of the gates as the top team and have a driver(s) with a truly legitimate shot at winning the WDC, then they’ll have to. Or they are idiots |

But then again, there's no reason to count those points, what ifs did not happen, so yeah, whether he will or won't catch makes the season exciting to everybody to watch. I don't think he will, between Lando and McLaren (and Oscar) they will be taking points off Lando at every opportunity, along with Ferrari Mercedes and Red Bull. But it does make the season entertaining! |

LeCrash strikes again
Rear-end collision in the Monaco hairpin: - Charles Leclerc was involved in a minor rear-end collision while driving his nearly 400,000 Euro Ferrari Purosangue in Monaco. Fortunately, the damage seems to be minimal. - Leclerc only received his new Ferrari Purosangue in April at a special handover in Monte-Carlo. The car, celebrated with a red cloth unveiling, now bears its first scratch after this small incident. - The collision occurred during a drive through Monaco, specifically at the iconic hairpin corner, a well-known part of the Formula 1 circuit. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C_kxu...RlODBiNWFlZA== |
