Liquimoly vs Ravenol

Liquimoly: me. 2011 e90M 50k miles 6mt catless exhaust (3rd lap)
Ravenol: friend. 2011 e92 M 150k miles DCT Akra evo pulleys and tune (4th lap same session)

I guess it's still inconclusive though bc the age of his car, his tune, transmission, etc. we do a data webinar and I was just giving him shit for it lol.

I was one second faster and the oil temp gaps were up to 12F cooler on my car in liquimoly. I did a 4th lap to 4th lap comparo and I still ran cooler. I'm gonna try Ravenol next and compare again. If it is better my temp gap should be even bigger if indeed his car runs warmer in general. Plus the oil is cheaper than other and people say it's good so I'll try. Both oils seem good though both of us haven't even thought about rod bearing crap (his car at 150k!).

And here's a fun video from the day. Oil temp was prob hotter for sure

I hate you and your perfectly sounding car! Haha I saw this video on your instagram when you posted it. Those car control skills though.

I feel like a 12 degree delta is pretty significant! Curious to know how Liquimoly performs compared to Castrol TWS. I do like the fact that Liquimoly is $42 for 5 quarts on Amazon. I wouldn't mind changing it after 5-6 days. I always try to milk the Castrol TWS because it's so damn expensive.

I would be interested to see data that consists of you running Ravenol and your friend running Liquimoly. Just so you have data points with each oil in each car.

This whole rod bearing thing has me nervous. Might just do them over next winter!

I'll have to pop in the track chit chat forum more often.

My favorite is all that smoke in the side mirror - i need a rear facing camera.

shit i actually want louder now. thinking about bimmerworld race exhaust

i told him to try liquimoly too. I know that my car runs cooler than when I was on Castrol (not by data but by oil temp needle). It also starts reading a lot faster (e dip stick) so warms up to temp faster. Castrol is too expensive and I think inferior. What gave it up was that BMW switched to Shell or whatever that Turbo oil is without a heartbeat. I thought it was supposed to be the best!

I want an exhaust dammit.

Recently switched from Castrol TWS to Liquimoly, noticed the same thing. Before, the e-dilly would start reading at 212 but with the Liquimoly, it reads at about half a cm before.

You do need a rear facing camera! You'd have some great clips.

I know the bimmerworld race exhaust is stupid loud for the E46. Can only imagine for the E9x. My car got significantly louder when I installed my headers. But I'm thinking I might need an x pipe.

You've convinced me. I'm going to order some Liquimoly after I post this. I ran the Shell turbo oil last season. It got a little toasty on track. I have 2-3k miles and 8 track days on it. I should probably send it to Blackstone for analysis.

That's what I'll send him a bill for, since I just had it waxed yesterday.

Will get hate, but I'll say it anyway.

Turtle Wax Ice.

Cheap and readily available. Great shine and protection. Lasts a while.

Something tells me Aatish isn't the type that goes around looking for beejs in pizza shops. On the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised if Axius was that type of person.

You're right. Pizza shops aren't my thing.

Taco joints, on the other hand...
