I'm saying within the current rules and regulations the w13 is legal as it stands. If the teams vote to ban aero parts on the mirrors then i'm pretty sure the only few things that will change on the w13 are:

1) the little aero strakes (carbon sticky uppy bits on the side impact crash structure will be removed, side impact structure will remain). So alpha tauri will be affected in this regard too.

2) the mirror will have to be mounted on its own mount and not directly onto the side impact structure as it is now.

3) the aero faring will likely remain, as all teams employ its use to help out the mirror shape and allow it to be more aerodynamically favorable.


Overall nothing major will change on the w13, it's not going to do too much to the w13's design in terms of the side pods or side impact structure (which is in the same area on all other cars except it is under the side pod cover).

Visually illegal LOL, that literally means nothing - F1 car legalities aren't determined by looks. If it fits the within the legality boxes and satisfies the CAD model checks for said boxes (plus load testing), and again breaches no other regulations Ferrari are wasting their time. This is just like DAS, completely fine interpretation of the rules.

for aero gains could be possible, however for an in season change 8/10 teams will have to vote on it. So even if a bunch of teams protesting I doubt it'll reach the 8/10 required especially if Mercedes customer teams side with Merc. So at the very least the mirror strakes will be present for 1 season, and for the start of 2023 when an 8/10 vote isn't required for an in season change the FIA will get to determine if they stay or not.

You may have read my back post about customer teams being shanghai'd by merc in that respect which is against all principles of fair play, The TAC should advize on merc mirrors whatever teams vote and merc should remove them out of courtesy.

Constructors championships aren't about fair play, if it were then constructors wouldn't exist it would be all about spec cars. So if it's legal it goes, instead of whining teams should focus on themselves and innovate.

Constructors or not this situation can't be allowed to continue. Merc has more customer teams than anyone else and should be subject to codes of practice for fairness by FIA, that's what they are there for.

Tire wear was relatively high during testing in Bahrain, particularly tire wear was high on all tire compounds, even though the softer compound is several tenths faster per lap. Some teams may save the softest tire compound for the race which could lead to a two-stop race or three stop race.
