Mact, what are your thoughts on SLV? I think that it's going to flush to the low $15s/high $14s on huge volume to signify a sell-climax and then it'll enter a bull market. The dollar has gone parabolic and that should end as well

Historically, I would agree on OCT usually bearish until 2009.
Starting 2010, retail and etail would be a key to how OCT would perform.

Long Term Investments

Gents,
I understand this is primarily a trading forum; however I was interested in your insights in long term (401K) investments. With the current market seemingly topping with a possible reduction on the horizon would it be smart to move funds into something stable? If there is a significant downturn then move back in? Or just leave it an don't touch it for 20 years?

You mean asset allocation of your 401(K)?
If you think the bull market is nearing the end, it might be smarter to get into defensive/dividend paying/precious metal heavy funds.

If you think bull market will continue till 1-2Q of 2015, maybe hold for little longer.

Regardless of bull/bear, you can (and should) always allocate (or review) your fund. Only provision is, if you bought your own company stock within 401(K), they might have some kind of provision.

leave it in and don't touch for 20 years. That will certainly perform better than going with your gut.

Hey! You're good, but I throw the flag on you tooting your own horn this time, as your ST bottom negates this 1900 call

Earnings/reports will be coming in soon. All starting with Alcoa. Earnings for big names are looking decent. How much of an affect it will have on the freefall of September I do not know

the TRIN call always makes a bottom, even if very short lived(but yeah I was expecting abit more of a bottom)...I did say very "short term bottom didn't I?"...

First the hot sector 3D stocks cratered(DDD, VJET, etc)...then the sand plays(HCLP, EMES, SLCA)...once GPRO and MBLY sell off bait it might be over.

AMD just filed 8-K
Glad that Dr. Lisa Su became a new CEO of AMD, but bad timing.
Week before earning....

Fair enough. That said, does this morning's TRIN spike to over 2+ provide another ST bottom? My gut says we make another weak attempt towards the old highs before a violent selloff

TRIN no where near 2 today...Fed move yesterday can't fake me out...1905 we are a coming...

TRIN trick works during minor selloff during bull mkt...I think we are in IT top now not ST.(note I didn't say LT).

Want to see MBLY and GPRO sell off hard before I get neutral.

I left holding the AMD bag. I am not going to ruin 20+ straight gain trade by selling this.

Or tomorrow, haha. If you look at a chart of spy from mid 2013, there's a very prominent support TL we're at again. Yesterday, price touched it before going on a massive rally. Today, it erased those gains and is right back at it. An open below 192.50 should send stocks crashing.

hmmm...I am seeing a lot of high flyers that have crashed recently at strong support levels and making massive hammer candles...wasnt expecting to see this quite so early...not sure we will see 1905 on monday now...was expecting big selloff early part of next week but not sure about that now.

I am long EMES now somewhat close to todays bottom cause the hammer out of the 200 dma is impressive....this is short term play based on dead cat bounce.

So we just bought 40k shares of tvix @ $2.73. We'll see how that plays out
Just sold my entire position @ 3.63

Not a bad gain for 2 months. 32.9% less ordinary income tax. The recent huge swings sort of spooked me into selling while I'm ahead. I might get in again if we see another spy all time high or something.
