People wanted an updated NSX which was a simple useable supercar without crazy maintenance. All they had to do is design the new NSX with RWD, manual, and price it near Corvette range.

Just take lesson from Mustang and 911 - if u find winning formula, just keep at it.

Unfortunately Honda seemed to get caught up on showing off new technologies, instead of just making a pure exotic MR sports car people could somewhat afford..

In the Supra case, probably has to do with regulation and crash test and also manufacturing cost. For the C8, the rear end could use some nips and tucks without incurring any much manufacturing cost. I think in general, the more fancy the body panel, it tends to cost a bit more.

For Supra - very easy, Toyota is literally sitting on piles of cash and are too cheap to spend it on a pet project that will have limited sales. Company is a joke for automotive enthusiasts.

Not sure how Toyoda-san was not embarrassed to stand up there at the debut and call it a “Toyota” Supra.

I was offended that Porsche thought it would charge us up to $100k for a 718 4-banger
I was disappointed when Toyota didn’t put its best foot forward with the Supra

2003-2004 Mustang Cobra with a Factory Eaton Supercharger. Two year production only with a pretty much indestructible engine block.

Finding an unmolested one now is almost impossible!

just saying alot of car manufacturers dont keep their word. They said they made the fastest 1/4 mile production car... and teslas smoke it. I just dont trust what GM, Ford, Dodge etc say. They'll do anything to make a quick buck.

I think it'll be a good car. and many people will buy it sight unseen. hopefully no problems come up later on... like the z06 being their 'race car' and repeatedly overheating in race car conditions. Its like... did you even test this thing on the track ?? or did you just plan on your 60 year old customers only using it to cruise the strip?

i was referring to dodge and how they claimed the demon was the fastest thing since sliced bread... maybe on the fastest drag strip, at the perfect temp, with a 90 pound driver, etc...

Fast forward to 15:50

then in the real world this happens: (demon on slicks and race gas 840hp vs stock huracan )

then eventually problems like rear diffs exploding happen.

Any street car put on a track and pushed very hard can and will have issues. Most of us have heard the reports of 458’s and some of their problems on the street and track, they’ve been documented also. F cars aren’t immune to issues and nobody else’s sports cars are immune either. Good car Makers fix problems early and the cars go on doing what they were designed to do.
Published track numbers is where the rubber hits the road and separates all truth from BS.
As it stands today there are four stock Corvettes( and two Camaros) standing atop the the 458 at Nurburgring, one of them the C6 Z06 and another is the C7 Z06. The Ring is a heartbreaker and punishes cars. Good cars rise to the challenge and top the competition. In fact, no Tesla has completed even one full lap without failure.

not sure what point you're trying to get across. 458 is 10 years old. They are well known as one of the most reliable supercars made. especially compared to the mclarens.

No car is immune to problems. Even GT3s had engines that caught on fire. Porsche stepped in and replaced engines. and added a 10 year warranty.

When dodge demons started blowing differentials dodge made no effort to rectify it. They warrantied it with the same defective part. people were still damaging their exhaust, halfshafts, and undercarriage with the exploding part.

GM never stepped in and ramped up the cooling on the Z06. Customers had to look to their own aftermarket solutions. in fact their is an ongoing lawsuit on this:

So they didn't introduce a secondary radiator or raised supercharger plenum in 2017?

They did. The problem was the auto models, which from the start, GM said wasn't for trackdays in the first place.

Regardless, it shouldn't have to come that. After the ZR1 and the Camaro models having no cooling issues, I think the C8 will be OK.
