Yes the interior is very cheap.
I managed to wiggle my way up the gigantic crowd of press people at it's North American debut on Thursday and was the 2nd person to get inside the Nissan GT-R. The seats and steering wheel feel great, but the console and carpeting and so forth are Nissan Sentra/Altima like. The floormats were paper thin just to give you an idea of cost cutting. The gauge cluster has zero pizzaz, and again looked Sentra like. Yes the car is really big. It was by far the biggest hoopla of all the North American debuts at the LA Auto Show on Thursday. There were so many press/media people around it. Anyway, yes, the "premium" edition starts at $71,900 and will probably still have a couple options you can add. Expect dealer asking prices to be $90K for the first year and probably $5k-8K over for 2nd model year too. The tunability of that car will be alluring and make it desirable for sure. But too bad Nissan did not make it better looking. But I think I'd jump into a Corvette Z06 instead, especially since you can GET a Z06 for $70K. |

It might perform like a Porsche GT2 but does not even come close the style of a Caymen or any BMW for that matter. I looks like a bigger Z with a tail.
It's not super ugly but for $70,000 there is zero WOW factor. |

I really like this car... from the way it looks to the way it performs according to the stats that nissan has released.

Yeah the Z06 sounds insane. I'd love to see the Z06 and GT-R duke it out in both a 1/4 mile run and some 40-150 runs. I'd think the GT-R would have the advantage in the 1/4 mile with hard AWD launches and might hold off 95% of Z06 drivers by the time the stripe comes along. But I'd bet the Z06 pulls 3+ CL's in the 40-150 run. I'm going to guess the GT-R's trap speed from the 11.7 ET's will be roughly 118-120 mph. The Z06 also runs high 11's but traps at 123-124 I believe. No doubt though, the GT-R will draw a bigger crowd at a get together though since they won't be so common, and are brand new. |

I'm was likely going to do the EXACT same thing. 2 or 3 more years, until I read about maintenance costs. Without warranty, you have to be out of your mind to own one. Even if it is a Jap car, shit happens.

There are a few R34's for sale around $40k. Talking yourself into spending that much is the problem.

Nissan (and the other Japanese Manuf.'s) are going the wrong way with their styling, bigger and boxier. Kind of a throwback to the '80s; big ugly boxes with huge head and taillights.

This is a hint...this ugly duckling is going to be a monster. Am I sick for thinking this is still tougher looking than a new vette?
