So your car is such a monster that you would keep it over the C7?

Here's a review I wrote comparing the Z with my 2014 CaymanS.
The C7 is impressive. Test drove a 2014 3LT 7 speed with Z51 package, NPP exhaust and magnetic ride control today. I was very impressed overall, it exceeded my expectations. Power: torque is strong, but I was actually surprised to find that I didn't find the power all that intoxicating and compelling. It would clearly blow the doors off my CS, but the CS did NOT feel underpowered climbing back into it. It's still fast enough to be fun. engine sound and exhaust sound: now this was intoxicating. This car had the NPP package and I dare say it sounded better than my CS who's sound I love. Shift action and clutch: pretty well done. Handling: great feel, high limits, and rock solid structure, lots of fun. My CS is on 19 inch winters right now so back to back is not really fair, but my poor memory doesn't detect a whole lot of difference. size and feel: sitting in it and parking it, it definitely feels bigger than the CS, ( I parked it next to my CS and it definitely looked bigger) but in high speed manouevres in sport mode it didn't feel like a bigger car. It felt pretty good. I was suprised to not really feel the 400 or so pounds difference in handling. interior: this one was the 3LT with upgraded suede package. It was fine, not as nice as my standard CS interior, but I am not an interior connisseur. Ride: amazingly good in sport mode with the magnetic ride control, comparable to my CS with 20's on it, maybe even slightly better. Styling: in white with black wheels and carbon flash spoiler and mirrors, it's a good looking car, better than I expected and not ugly sitting next to the CS. Overall I prefer my CS, but it is really is hard to articulate why. Somehow the 981 just fits me better. When I first drove a 981 I had this big smile on my face. The C7 didn't do that and the drive doesn't make me want to do the switch right away. I thought the torque of the C7 might me want it over the CS but as I mentionned above the power difference wasn't as striking as I thought it would be. There is no doubt, however, that the C7 is barrels of fun. If I had driven both before buying the CS, that would have been one agonizing decision, given the $16000 out the door price difference. As it stands now, I may just have found the successor to my CS. |

My next sports car will be a white on red Z06 or a Callaway convertible Corvette. I love the way the C7 looks. It blows my current C6 out of the water.

you may want to consider one buying ASAP!!!!
C7 forums are stating that starting tomorrow, Corvettes are going up $2,000 base price model, and $3,500 for Z51 package. I'm not sure if it affects existing inventory.. or only models built after today... GM can't even wait for the new model year, they are just increasing the price out of the blue.. most likely cause of the high demand they can charge more. I'm still considering M235i + LSD to the C7. Car will be my daily driver, and I feel the M235i will be better deal (10k less, better gas mileage, extra seats). but seeing how nobody in town is letting me drive a C7.. its hard to buy a car.

growing up corvette's reminded me of mid-life crises cars. that might have changed over the years but it still is in the back of my mind when i see them today. lol

anyone know how the steering feel of the new vette is? I know it is electric, but what does it compare to (best=porsche, medium=BMW, bad= camry)
I wonder if it is better then the M235i steering.

My order is in for a white z51 with a May ETA and I'm driving my commuter car right now. Done with 335. If you're serious about buying:
1. Buy from a national vette dealer with 200+ allocation not local dealer. Many reasons already listed on other forum. 2. The large national dealers are currently getting grandfathered pricing. 3. Hop on this deal with one of the best national dealers. Spiike is me on that forum and yes I bought from Rick Short list of nation largest vette dealers: Rick Conti @ coughlin has large allocation Hendrick in NC has large allocation Buds in Ohio has large allocation MacMulkin in NJ has huge allocation Kerbek in MN has huge allocation Just buy from the large ones and you will get your car with very competitive pricing. More info on the other site. Steering is as good as CS and nothing like 335. I drove all of them. New CS PDK is what makes CS better to me. I'm getting 7MT but even with rev match you can't compare it to instantaneous "bang bang shifts" of PDK. Chassis on C7 is stiff and well balanced. On track I would put money that it is as balanced as a CS and if you've track a 2900 lbs CS you know that says a lot. Inside is nice but not as nice as a Porsche. Element of refinement is still not there, but it is still very good. Short review, I'll have a very long one on the other forum later in May. Cheers

Your 335 runs 11s?
I sold my 335xi for a C6. I would sell it for a C7 even faster. Do it now. |
