i have... i thought at least it handled "OKAY". but for over 100 grand? please... if it was 80 grand i'd say okay, yeah... it's a replacement for a regular carrera because its prettier, sounds cooler and is more unique. but for over a 100 grand? no thanks... i'll take an M5, an M6, a Carrera S, a 997 GT3... the list goes on, all equal in price or cheaper than the AMV8.

People don't buy Aston Martins or Ferraris or Lamborghinis because it's a good deal.
It has nothing to do with that. Based on the price of these cars, that should completely obvious, yet people still compare it with cheaper cars and talk about how much better the cheaper car is. People buy the Astons, Ferraris, and Lamborghinis because they can afford pretty much any car they want. They usually have owned many BMWs, Mercs, and Audis and want something that's a step up. Fuck the performance numbers for the money. The money isn't an object for these customers. |

Agreed. I believe I posted somewhere else my personal experience with the DB9. The parking light wouldn't turn off no matter where the emergency brake was. A car in that price range shouldn't have that kind of problem.
Aston Martin makes incredibly great looking cars, but they cannot compete with the likes of Porsche or Ferrari, who I believe they are trying to target, in terms of performance, build quality, resale value, etc. |

I have to admit, the DB9 was my ideal next car purchase, although I am deffinitely going to have to test drive some others now thanks to everyone's comments. Back to the OP I actually like that watch, I do like the skeleton watch design on several watches, although I would never spend $34k on a watch. Never really liked Rolex either, think I'd rather get a Breitling.

In the realm of collectors watches, $34k is pretty cheap.... And Jaeger watches generally fall into that category. They are one of less than a dozen respected watchmakers that make their own sought after movements.

Yeah, the DB9 handles like a tank. Seriously, the thing sucks major ass. My dad borrowed one for the weekend to test drive, and while it looked like it was outta this world, the fact of the matter was that it was slow and horrible to drive. The interior is beautiful, except for that ghastly nav screen. The wind noise (we had a Volante - a vert) was absolutely dreadful at cruising speeds of 65mph. It seriously sounded like someone was wheezing at us the entire time. Speaking of wheazing, the AC didn't work worth a sh*t either.
He's pretty convinced to not buy one of those, but he was invited to do this driving event at Sebring with a bunch of AM V8's, and that was apparantly fun (...I didn't get to go ). Now I'm trying to convince him to consider an Audi R8. He's skipping the thought of an M6 cuz he drives a 6er already; too repetitive. I hope he gets the R8 so I could drive it sometime though...

Aston Martin was sold by Ford ealier this year to a privately held company. The majority holder is a car freak, the quality of the cars can only go up. I've driven one and personally liked how it drove. The materials are fantastic, the body lines are amazing, not very many cars can compete with how accurately the cars are put together. I drove the vantage because it's semi affordable, not like the new DBS which will be a crazy ride. It may not be the fastest car especially for the price, but the way it makes you feel is amazing. The car has an aura that few car companies can match. Honestly even though a Porsche may be a better "value" it's not on par with Aston Martin.

Call me crazy, but I'll take an Audi R8 any day over the DBS. It's true what everyone is saying, the DB9 handles like a bus and is slow but looks amazing.
I had the chance to drive an R8, and let me say, that car is in a completely different league, the AMV8 or DB9 can't even come close. And the R8 is a real head turner too. |
