I'll buy it. Currently have the 4S and I am due for an upgrade. Might have held out until the 6 came out but the button on the top is broken so I can no longer turn off the screen (have to wait for it to go off on its own) and can't shut off the phone either. Kind of annoying really but happened a couple of weeks ago so figured I'd just wait for the new phone to come out.

I'm not blown away with the 5S being that it only has several new features that aren't too significant, plus I like my slate colored 5 way better than any of the new color offerings on the 5S.

From what I understand it doesn't store your fingerprint. It converts your fingerprint scan into a number using an algorithm. The actual print isn't stored and shouldn't be able to be reproduced.

Piece of shit. Even fanboys can't defend this but it was predictable. I'm an apple apologist but this is just silly after awhile. I hope their 6 is bigger from a screen perspective and has a shred of innovation. They are essentially selling the same phone from iPhone 1.

Hell I even contemplated about getting an HTC One or Samsung S4 but after playing around with my sister's S4, it just doesn't appeal to me. I like simplicity so Apple appeals to me. I was also looking at the Sony Xperia Z but it looks like only Tmobile carries it. The HTC One is still a very attractive phone but I think I'm going to stick with Apple since iOS 7 looks very promising. |

I'd like to know what people think is revolutionary in regards to a phone. It seems to me that everything from this point on is going to be evolutionary. I would think the next "revolutionary" step would be being able to pay for everyday items with your phone the same way you do with a debit card. What other innovations would you like to see? And don't say a larger screen, because that sure as hell isn't an innovation. It's Just, A, Larger, Screen. If you need to squint to see an iPhone 5 screen you need better eyes.

I definitely agree. Apple just keeps ahead of the curve and adds one/a few new features to their iPhone every year, nothing worth noting. The only reason I could see getting a new phone from them is if you can't use the newest iOS. If I remember correctly, the phones before Siri couldn't use the iOS that Siri came out on. I'm looking forward to seeing how this iOS7 works. It looks like a good operating system, I don't really like the way they changed the colors (I like the look of the old, but we'll see) |

What phone is innovative? The Galaxy phones? Hell no. All that wave action, look away for pause, 5" screens, etc is not innovating. That's just slapping gimmicks and a big screen on a phone.
No phone has been as innovative as the original iPhone. Everything including Android phones have been evolutionary from the original iPhone. You can argue the iPhone needs to get a bigger screen. But, that isn't innovating. OLED panels? That is just a, " Look at us! We're cutting edge!" scheme. OLED shows promise, but LED LCD panels still have the advantage being the mature technology. OLED still needs to further mature. The iPhone 5 screen is considered one of the best out there beating out a lot of the OLED panels. The only area I was growing tired of with the iPhone was iOS, but that has been changed with iOS 7 with its much needed UI update. We all should have known what the 5S would have been. Apple has been doing that since the 3G. Hell where was the bitching about the S4? That was just a slightly updated S3 in design. The updates were internal. I will never consider a Samsung phone. They are cheaply made and the materials are plastic( and even though I don't like the 5C, early hands on impressions have it better made than Samsung phones). The build quality and materials on my iPhone 5 is superior to most phones out there. Only rivaled by the HTC One. |

But, tell me what other modern smartphone has changed the way we use smartphones than the original iPhone?
Android phones haven't changed the way we use our phones. People may prefer Android phones over the iPhone because their features are more attractive to them, but they haven't revolutionized or innovated anything. It's still the same basic formula the original iPhone laid out. |

I loved my iPhone 5 (except for one issue), and every one of my iPhones before that one too. But for now I went with a "cheaply made" Samsung. I will say I do like being able to customize my phone the way I do. I haven't looked into the iOS 7, but I'm sure it's more of the same stuff that Apple is great for. I don't like having to jailbreak the phone to customize it to my liking though. I don't have any issues with my S4 for now. It definitely doesn't feel as "sturdy" as the iPhone, likely because it is made with much more plastic, but I really don't care. I have no issues with using it. I've also dropped it accidentally a couple of times. Aside from the back case scratching, there's no damage to the phone itself. I don't think I am a fanboy, I just like what I like at the time. The battery issues I had with my iPhone 5 were my only issues. For some reason, the battery would drain extremely quickly under little usage (much faster than my wife's iPhone 5), and the phone would shut off at 20-25% remaining randomly, saying the battery was dead. That was my only problem really. I could have gotten a new iPhone 5, but for some reason I didn't. I don't really have an explanation why. When I walked in the store I just told them I wanted a Galaxy S4, even though earlier that day my intention was to get another iPhone 5. It wasn't the stupid commercials or the hand waving or any of that stuff (that I never use). I may change my mind later, but likely not until at least the iPhone 6 rolls out as the 5S doesn't really provide anything worth switching to at this time (not to mention I don't have an upgrade available). Most of the gimmick stuff on the S4 I don't even use, as I'm sure most people who have one don't use that junk either. But I don't get people whining, "My phone is better for <insert reason here>..." People trying to justify themselves and their purchases to strangers online... It really is all personal preference at this point... The phones are all very similar. If you like the iPhone, stick with it. My original intention was always to get on the S rotation of their phones since my upgrades always came out when the new number was designated. IMO, if you have a 5 I wouldn't get the 5S, either wait a while for the 6 or wait a bit longer for the 6S and stick with that rotation. Just my thoughts though.

I'll never understand why someone who hasn't handled or used any features or UI of a new phone can come out and call it a POS and rag on a company for that product. Without ever using it.... that there is a fanboy. It's like Apple stole his girlfriend and keyed his car or something. Life would suck if there were only iphones and life would suck if there were only S4s. I doubt i'll get an S4 or any android phone, but i like that the option is there. Also, it seems like the 2 year upgrade system that most carriers have is changing to a yearly thing.... so the ads point to anyway.

I'm just tired of the BS surrounding the iPhone vs Android debate. As you said it's personal preference. |
