Let not forget that our "piece-of-shit" iDrive, for example, allows us to set and customize options that Lexus and Infinity don't have with their on-board computers. My friend with the is350 had to go to the dealership to have her light set to stay on a certain amount of time. So, we have cool things that they don't have also.

Did they fix the stability control for the G37? I drove a 6MT G35 because the cost was low enough to be interesting, but it was a nightmare. When the stability control kicked in on for a fast corner, it felt like the throttle was pulsing like ABS or bucking off the redline (throttle-nothrottle-throttle-nothrottle) until I picked my foot off the gas.
That and the fact that I couldn't get comfortable in the test car made for one of the shortest test drives I took. The mileage on the G35 6MT was pretty abysmal, too. |

Nav + gadgets are MUCH MUCH better on the G37 -- hopefully someone will write something up. I've been meaning to but haven't hard time. BMW really needs to get that act together on that one. I recently sat in my friend's G35 and the nav system is really about 10x better. The BMW nav is very rudimentary.
Some simple examples that I remember (there were a TON more): the G37 will superimpose traffic info on the map itself with colors to show traffic (like Yahoo maps does, for example). A lot more stuff is customizable. It shows brands of gas stations with little icons. Lots of stuff like that. But yeah, as usual the driving experience in the BMW is better. But that gap is shrinking each time around... The driving experience gap is a lot smaller than the gadget/navigation/price gap, that's for sure! |

"In today's world... what really matters is...
When you turn your car on.. does it return the favor." What ever happened to enjoying the simplicity of a vehicle? We should be spending less time messing with on board gadgets like an RCA jack, "cool" navigation system, and hard drives... and spending more time tearing up some tarmac. =] |

I think there are some age gaps..:P But I guess it's cool to hear everyones opinions. not comparing a BMW with a Honda, but Porsche has a phone sim card slot... all these cool stuffs that can make the simplicity of a vehicle more enjoyable.

-Power thigh bolsters in the sport seats sound like they would be nice for "wide body" owners.
-The hard drive and CF are a wash with BMW's Ipod and thumb drive -Location of the "Idrive" like control is very awkward to use. You have to reach up and there's no place to rest your hand when you're operating it. Idrive is much more comfortable to use. -Touch screen Nav? Mounted too far away to be convienient. Deeply hooded making it difficult to see what you're touching because you hand blocks it. Fingerprints. -Birds eye Nav POV. I do like the birds eye perspective and use it on my G35 all the time. Much better than a view looking straight down. Haven't tried the BMWs yet, does it have a similar POV? -Rear view camera....uhhhhh...what are the windows for? Actually, the G37 rearward vis is worse than the BMWs so maybe they really need this. Can't see where this is a great advantage over BMWs system -Power steering wheel adjust -Memory settings include steering wheel. -6MT only hastwo interior color choices neither of which are Coral Red leather |

The people on the Infiniti board think the BMW interior is too plain. Everyone has their opinion. They go on to equate the electronics with the G having more technology and will not answer questions when the subject of overall technology - stuff like the engine. I think this is really about the intent of two companies. If BMW wanted to put all the electronics (you can see) in the 3 series, they could easily do it. Can Infiniti say the same for the engine and driving feel?
BTW, the Infiniti crowd always complain about the locked out nav functions while on the move. I would also note, the idrive's screen, essentially two screens or a widescreen, is constantly overlooked. |

Actually, not having a power tilting/telescoping steering wheel was one of the biggest surprises for me.

Once again. How much does the G37's 4-wheel Steering option affect handling? That's the biggest "option" that might actually matter. Not which NAV system is better or interior colors.

Here's the deal. If you rarely drive a little north of what most people would deem irresponsible (ie, a little faster, higher rpms, enjoy "pressing on" when on curvy desolate country roads) then you should buy the G37. If you're into serious modding an Asian car will give u better bang for the $. The G37 will idle along in rush hour traffic just as well as the 335. Reliablility will be on par with the 335. A similiarly equiped G37 will be ~ $10k cheaper. |

The HD in the Infiniti is dumb. The only ways to transfer music onto it are:
1) Ripping each CD in your collection 2) Transferring using a *CF* card I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not in the habit of storing my music on a bunch of CF cards--I have it on my PC and my iPod. Why they didn't just put in a USB interface is beyond me. What happens if and when the bulky CF cards go by the wayside? What happens when you use up your tiny amount of HD space? Lots of us have dozens of GB of music! IMO, it's a quirky system that's extremely inflexible.

yeah its 10K for a reason. Who cares about options, first off why would someone want to spend 42K for a Nissan in which the build quality is inferior and you can hear and feel every freakin crack in the road. With my '05 G35, seriously you hear every rotation of the wheel. Im telling you its tiring and there is no insulation from the exterior noise. I've had enough of my G35 thats why I have a '08 BMW 328 coupe sitting at port. So forget about options the G37 is still an Infiniti thats not going to change with any option and the Japanese G37 cant touch the build quality of the Germans. I can not understand why some people cant see the difference in the quality of the ride between the two. There is no comparison and plus they went backwards in design. Looks like a wanna be Lexus way to feminine.
