im still on the fence with this shah guy. Going from a divorce, depression, fat chicks, loser engineering co-workers, and now unemployment. You sir are either one very professional troll or an extremely happy but unlucky individual.

My funding is already cut, both Marines and Army have lose tuition assistance. That is a separate program from the GI Bill. Keep in mind though, Colorado and other states are still offering and lowering tuition rates for undocumented (read: illegal) immigrants.

Hey i don't know you but hell don't like seeing people losing jobs or income. Take that how you will. But the tuition assistance thing just makes me sick. In my facility we hire soma amazing returning vets. Not only do they have field experience but are just amazing guys to work with due to their professionalism. And a number had utilized the GI bill to go to university. However not all have an official technical degree. So we were sending them back at night to get their BS in engineering....and now that has to stop. And to add insult to injury a good number of them are no longer enlisted and are civilians just like me. So not only do they get a pay cut but their continued education comes to a stop if this goes through. As for the GI Bill just the other day one of the republicans, who’s name escapes me at the moment, was bitching about it being an entitlement program and was too expensive due to the rising costs of universities. Can you believe that crap? But what can you do right? |

Well as of last year I'm now allowed to travel for work so that we may save money. So instead of flying out across the country in support of my job i now spend a good 50% of my time on pone cons talking to people attempting to blindly solve long distance problems. So while the meeting gets dull...as it is now...we are waiting for someone to log in I make coffee or look online to kill time. So what use to take me a single trip out to a facility and 8 hours there to work out..now can take me up to 8 weeks. You know how I say engineers can thing of 50 reasons why they can’t do something instead of 1 reason why they should? Well that’s hard to do when you can simply walk over to the machine and point and say “Look get away from your computer if you were to move line A to here and line B to there you could do XY of Z” I know they mean well but…well it’s just their nature. Sigh I don’t know…..and now just an engineer just said “Well I’ll show congress….I’ll get all my work done on a 30 hour work week!” If I was there he would have gotten a dirty look…dumb ass you are not suppose to work harder to appease the morons! And god forbid you work too fast and skip over safety? Then what? Then I have to tell your wife and kids you blew yourself up because you were in a hurry? Sigh...ok well it is what it is... |

The trend these days is to hire kids out of college or masters programs. Why would they hire you for 110+ thousand a year when they can have a fresh grad student that can be molded as they please and also drink some company cool aid. I'm a systems engineer myself and was drooled over by several companies while graduating. Fast forward 5 years companies are interested but are looking for more junior guys then real pros. Change of the times i guess.
