I've done it once before, but somehow I keep missing the classes we have HSPU and rope climb. Double under is another thing that I have a hard time dealing with.

Joined crossfit two weeks ago and I am loving it. Reminds me a lot of the workouts we did when I played college football. I am so obsessed that the first day I could do maybe one or two DU's and was very disappointed. Been working on them twice a day and now can bust out 40+ in a row. The trick is to buy a good rope! I got one from http://rxjumpropes.com/

Also did my first muscle up yesterday. Felt pretty good about that!

I make my own hybrid crossfit workouts. Combines crossfit routines with normal lifting. Works great and gives me the best of both worlds.

Muscle up in two weeks. That's awesome. I'll look into investing in a good jump rope to practice DUs.

I feel you! Those damn speed ropes with leave some nice welts. The first few days I was hitting myself in the shins so much I was bleeding.

If you're still learning I would stay away from the speed ropes until you find your rythm. I used a heavier rope until I figured out a good rythm. Plus a thicker rope is easier to see and believe it or not it helps with timing when you can see the rope coming around. Also a heavier rope doesnt need to be spun as fast to keep its form. You have to spin the speed ropes pretty fast to keep them from collapsing.

I do a crorssfit class at 6am and then go back at 5pm after work and do the Wendler 5/3/1 program for strength. Works great cause both workouts are short and to the point. No more spending hours in the gym not making any gains.

Wendler 5/3/1??? I'll look into that. Never heard of it.

It's a bit of a hobby of mine to make training routines and test them out on myself and my friends. Great results so far. I wish I had the luxury of having the time to go twice a day. If I could, I would def do what your doing. Instead I kinda of work one into the other. I use the crossfit to replace the cardio in my workout.

I've been doing it for just over three months now. Just started my 3rd cycle (one cycle is 4 weeks) and I have made solid gains each cycle. I bought the the ebook but you can Google "Wendler 5/3/1" and there are a few websites that pretty much tell you how to do it. Also there is an app called "Big Lifts" that you can use to track your progress. I like it cause I'm in and out of the gym and working hard the entire time (much like corssfit). If you want to put on strength I definitely suggest it. But don't expect to gain 40lbs on your bench in a cycle. Its' designed to make moderate gains and to kee you always improving.

I'll look into that. I've always been a fan of having consistent moderate gains rather than pushing the wait as hard as possible and then possibly injuring. Maybe i'll have a go at this.

Thanks for the tip.

That's a nice combo.

Ideally, I'd like to stick to my regular workout in the gym and then do crossfit maybe twice a week for cardio. CF gyms are kinda pricey though if I'm not going to use it that much.

About to complete my first 3 months of crossfit out here in Afghanistan and I'm hooked! I've never been into being that gym warrior and have always sought to train hard at the gym and take it to the mountains to get a fix on adrenaline. Now I certainly feel the advantage in core power and leg explosiveness.

I will say cross-fit did a fantastic job of prepping me for ranger school..

Ran my first 5k last night not to mention it also had 50 burpee's and 50 box jump included with it...that was the hardest workout I have ever done but Im glad I stuck with it and finished!

25 box jumps
2.5k run
25 burpees

2 rounds

we are adding more running in the next few months here and there to get us ready for the tough mudder Las Vegas we are all going to as a class. should be fun!

if you dont know what tough mudder is check it out http://toughmudder.com

When i was just doing cross-fit, i never ran other than when rx'd. For my ranger pt test I had to run 5 mins in under 40 mins. Because of cross-fit, I ran a 32.48... #1 in my class. You'll be fine with out doing any extra running.
