Fujitsu is the best and the most expensive all around.

Panasonic and Pioneer are really the only other alternative since everything else is shit.

DO NOT buy Samsung. Its garbage for people who shop at Wallmart and dont know any better. Don't buy LG either. For some reason people constantly mistake both of these brands for producing products of quality.

Sony stopped making plasmas long ago but they had some nice stuff. If you are looking for a 1080i plasma then check out Sony's PMB-50HX1.

I love your explanation, especially how you tide in Walmart with the brand Why don't you provide some facts as to why Fujitsu is so much more superior then Samsung or LG? I am all ears...btw, here's a review on the so-called "garbage" brand...

Samsung started marketing with Goldstar here in the states in the early 80's as a Walmart brand. Low quality for a low price. Between now and then only one thing has changed; the price they charge.

Build quality; poor
Quality control; poor
Picture quality; moderate at best

Let me explain the Picture Quality part.

Samsung does a great job at producing bright, hight contrast, and high saturation color picture. For most people "its pretty" but I hate it. Plus Samsung plasmas always had a bias for running colors warmer then they should be. You combine that with poor mosquito noise and artifact supression and you have a picture that leaves much to be desired.

As far as CNET's reviews, I think its a joke. Much like consumer reports.

So when you want to buy a nice TV and money is no object why would you look at the Ford of TVs?

***If you own a Samsung TV don't take anything I said personally

Sony Professional line can still make a Plasma, but the refresh rate performance hits do not fit standards that warrent the price tag.

I used to be a Magnolia Home Theater Pro 2. Finally a topic on this forum I feel comfortable talking about!

My opinion... go with the pioneer Elite that is about to come out THIS MONTH!

http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/exclusive...mas-258837.php

Im a big Pioneer fanboy, but the black levels on this new plasma will be able to reach well beyond any competition in being true to form. Plasmas, by being so bright, are not able to truely recreate the color black (or absence of color in the light spectrum). This is because Plasmas are so Vivid, which to many is a good thing. I say the 1080p Pioneer unveiled at CES this year, and WOW with a side of WOW...

I currently have a PDP-5060HD (720P model... hey Im 22, go screw!) and it blows my TV away!

Jump on it bro, unless you are going to have direct light hit the screen, then go LCD...

if you need some real pro opinions, jump on AVSforum.com... those guys know their shit.

The new LCDs are great for gaming, run cooler than plasmas and (the biggest plus) have absolutely no burn-in issues. No 'clouding' or odd picture quality at extreme angles.

I just purchased two LGs, both 1080p sets, a 42 and a 47. Both have very excellent pictures - plasma-like, can literally be viewed from the side and look great on the wall.

42LB5D and 47LB5D

And Samsung make TVs that are consistently in the top tier for Plasma. The Walmart poster is being subjective to say the least.

Burning not an issue here and my Plasma doesn't really generate much heat. As I've said before, these are 8th-9th generation Plasmas.

Yes, you are right.

Even if you prove to yourself that the TV produces a decent picture its still a poorly built product.

can you please explain the difference in 1080i VS 1080p? Is the diference really visible to the eye? Is it worth to wait for the full 1080p products? Any help would be great!

Samsung has the highest LCD generation. You'll want LCD over Plasma and 1080p is best you can get (or at least the human eye will see)

The best suggestion will be a Samsung LCD Flat Panel. The picture quality is the best out of all the other brands. Plasma TV are not very long lasting so my recommendation would be and LCD HDTV by Samsung.

While I agree with the Fujitsu comment (yes it's DEF the best out there, and I'm sure this will be the brand of my next TV)..the LG and Samsung comment is too funny.

LG and Samsung are closely related and there screens were developed by the same guy (or group of engineers, i forgot..i think it's one person)

Even funnier to that is the fact that the same person (or people) also has ties with fujitsu.

I did a lot of research on this stuff when I first got into high def TVs. Granted that was a while ago, so I dont know how the quality of the builds are now.

The last TV I got was a Sharp Aquos LCD

Do a lot of research before making your purchase. That's the only way you'll ensure the BEST picture quality possible. There are a couple great high def TV forums... I forgot the name of the board I used to surf.

IMHO, a plasma gives more natural colors and live picture than LCD, although LCD may have sharper image lines. I prefer plasmas and currently they are just as reliable as any LCD.

I have a 61" Pioneer Elite and the picture quality is absolutely incredible. I cross shopped forever before I bought it and the only other manufacturer that was even close was the Fujitsu. You can't go wrong with either one.

Actually you are very close. LG prints plasma screens for Samsung and Philips. There have been many rumors about Fujitsu selling large quantities of their screens to other major electronics brands but nothing offical yet. As far as LCD panels go Samsung has their own plant here in the states.

Really? Where do you get this information about Plasmas not being long lasting? I don't plan on keeping a TV for 15 years. NEW Plasmas have a lifetime of about 60,000 hours if you watch TV on an average of 6 hours a day. That's about 27 years. People need to stop making recommendations on stuff they really don't know anything about.
