Nice...I totally believe it. Once again, some of those guys in their SRT-8's just think they're the sh!t, until they get beat by a 335i (although they probably don't know what little extra goody lies under the 335i hood ).

Drag an SRT-8 up to the mountain twisties and see who wins. It's easy to win the brute force drag race with so much displacement, but make the car dance and see if it can hang. That extra weight will really become a burden.

Remember that first rule when driving, keep 3 seconds behind the car in front of you. Use some type of marker on the side of the road to figure it out. Well, at 40 mph, youre a lot closer to the car than you would be at 100mph. That being said, this again only works when BOTH cars are traveling the same speed. If youre accelerating faster at 100mph because you have less wind drag(or gearing or hp or etc.) than the brick trying to accelerate behind you, the distance will be greater. And now you cant just assume its .10-.15ths. Make sense?

I don't understand this fascination
Seriously, why is everyone so excited about racing a one-dimensional (performance-wise) muscle car? If this was a Ford Mustang board I could understand and appreciate the comparison, but you guys are driving a completely different CLASS of car, one that borders on supercar performance with merely a PROcede addition (Shiv is a GOD of performance...)
Straight line drag races (at a DRAG STRIP) excited me when I was in my mid-20's but I guess I grew up a little and appreciate the curves more now (sideways please, with the tires smoking). Must be a lot older than most people here Honestly, we're comparing a BMW and a Chrysler/Jeep?!?! Are you fucking kidding me?!?! Yeah, stock, both cars are pretty close, close enough that it's going to be a driver's race every time. That's where the similarities, and my interest in any Chrysler/Jeep end.

you did 110mph on a city street? how is that worth bragging rights? anyone with common sense will see that as a retarded move. and don't say "oh i'm a great driver. i put Senna to shame". all the balls and engineering on the floor won't compensate for idiocy. Scenarios like yours end up on the news (and not in a good way). I had a coworker who lost his wife because street racers decided to see who had the smallest d**k and t-boned her.

It was early in the morning, a dead straight-away in a commercial area. Certainly not something I do on a regular basis. I think you should calm down and stop trying to sound like such a tuff guy behind your computer because I know for a fact you wouldn't say such things to my face.

Everyone knows street racing is stupid. But a lot of people do stupid things on a daily basis (including me). With a little luck, the only people who die in the crash are the drivers. At this point in MY life, I have too much to lose and too much to live for to race on the street. I like the dragstrip anyway, it eliminates the "I got a bad start....waaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh" whine. That ambulance and fire truck are nice to have too .

Lots of hypocrites here, everyone street races once in awhile...if not race, then just speed like crazy some times...
However there are 3 police station within 20 mile radius of where i live, so no way in hell i'd go more than 5mph over speed limit...

Anyhow, I am not challenging you to a fight, or to "get in your face" that shits stupid, all i am saying is Street racing (in the valley of all places) is stupid, not only for safety reasons but also the fact that LA has a no tolerance policy. You get caught street racing, they impound and auction off your car. No Fun. I drive fast, i'll take a nice launch off the line against anybody, and 110 i see almost 3 times a week, but not on city streets on a weekday. Just saying, I don't know the situation but 95% that was a bad idea. Anyway, good job on killing an SRT-8 |

Well, again...it's pretty much driver variation. As I said before, the SRT-8 can hit from 0-60mph just right below 5s and the low 5s most of times just like the 335i. The numbers just don't lie. So I don't know how you can have 3-4 car lengths before the guy, Mr. 18posts? Probably, the SRT8 owner realized the danger of the street racing and quit?...
