my dad was an alcoholic, abusive, absentee son-of-a-bitch.
this is for everyone else: be glad your dad was cool. some of us aren't so lucky. mom's will always be mom's. that's the rock of the family. dad's have more tenancies to fuck up. sad but true. so i live in his image to be better than him, which i previously said isn't too hard. all i have to do is smile. |

Best quotes? hmmm I'll have to put up the 'PC' ones...hahaha
"You're a fart smeller, I mean smart feller" All time funniest and most used though... "I'll just do it myself!" Usually was in response to my brother and I hiding when we heard the lawnmower come out or it was time to take out the garbage... I'm thankful I have such a great dad. I'm 31 and he still teaches me stuff and helps me when he can. |

He didn't make it up of course, but when I heard this (maybe ~14 or so) it was the most poignant thing I'd ever heard. Short/simple/relatable/and 100% true.... and why to this day is why I still take nothing for granted.
"Well son.. you can wish in one hand and shit in the other, but tell me which one fills up faster." |

My dad and mom met in the Peace Corps in Pakistan, where they learned Urdu. My dad's favorite saying for a long time was (phonetically) "Chupe" short for "Chupe rahow" He could tell us tough luck and nobody else knew.
In teh last decade, teh best saying he gave me was in regards to raising my son: "Show him as many DIFFERENT things in life as possible" Builds confidence, imparts empathy and experience, and makes him a more rounded human being. But dad still won't hug or kiss my son, that's for gays . . . |

Love my dad (and mom) to death. Even though I act nonchalant most of the time, I owe them everything. My dad even saved me from drowning before. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for him.
