My friend used to do this. Something interesting he told me was that if you drop a tool that you shouldn't alert the person below you. It is better to have a wrench hit them on the top of their hard hat than for them to look up and get hit in the face. Crazy.

How often do you think they go up? I'm betting there is a government regulation that they can only do it like once a month. Kind of like out ATC'ers can only work so many hours at a time.

Still not bad pay.. LOL.. but working 1 week out of 52 and chilling the rest of the time sounds pretty good..

It's definitely not a job where you can expect to be working everyday would be my guess.

Even if they do have one.... I'd imagine it would be a last resort (like they are already falling off). The reality is that there are so many guy wires that there would be a very slim chance that they'd make it to the ground without actually hitting one. Even with a controlled (limited wind) kind of fall...

I don't know if I could even do that. I would be too freaked out. Doesn't matter how much they wanted to pay me...I don't think my body would allow me to get out of the elevator. lol

That's so risky though, one little snag on that bag with all those metal parts sticking out while you're climbing up and you'll lose your grip or something =o

I can only say that I felt the sum of all the comments,... crazy stuff,... I'm not so sure that I could ever do that, let alone would do it, simply I couldn't, I'd fall at the moment I went out of the tower and look down,... talk about vertigo!

Ultimate prank would be if you woke up , hooked, on the very top of that tower.

I noticed this when I watched for the second time, but at 7:17, while standing on the tippy top of the tower on nothing more than a few inches of metal, he lets go of the pole for a good 6 seconds while taking out his metal hook and fastening it to the tower. If there was any sudden wind gust he'd be blown right off. I'm wigging out right now.
