I didn't forget it, I just thought I threw a big enough wet blanket on the idea of being an owner/operator without it.

Welcome to my life.... My guys work 5 hours I have to pay them for 8. Not to mention it is on a daily basis. So, they could actually work 5 hours a day 4 days a week and then work a 12 or 13 hour day and get 4-5 hours time and a half having only worked 32-33 hours total in that week. But they get paid for 44-45.
The average salary for drivers in the unions in NYC is aroudn 25-28 an hour. Since I provide 401k, health, and dental insurance I used to pay my guys around $23.00 per hour on average. I had a union negotiation and they walked into my office and said they wanted better health, dental, larger 401k contributions and a $5.00 an hour raise per year for the next 3 years of the unions contract. Crazy huh? Biggest recession since WW2 and the union drops this on the table. I walked out of the room laughing while my labor attorney was yelling and screaming. Long story short, we came to an agreement on the night prior to me locking their asses out. Fuck unions. |
