I'm an idiot when it comes to science but even I know that heat rises. It's incredibly inefficient to heat from the top down since you have to force the heat to the bottom of the room where people are.

Thanks man, I'm 90% certain that I won't go with ceramic, or anything with grout for that matter. I'm leaning more towards epoxy now... but heated floors would be nice.

K well, I guess im speaking from a financially conservative point of view bout the heated floors, itd be ALOT less detailed and expensive to just direct ducts into your garage, n hell, could even have vents in the walls n shit. But honestly, I guess since its a carwash, ud hafta worry bout water gettin in there, but otherwise, I see heated floors as just a nutso luxury. Heat from vents in the walls or ceiling would melt snow n ice just as much as heated floors, I mean dyou realize how MUCH heat you would need to radiate from the floor to melt all the shit off the cars? ALOT...whereas heat flowing via air movement covers the entire garage, specially if the door's closed.
And yes the keeping the garage cool in the summer time comment is bs, yet again, if you have ducts running u could supply the garage with hot AND cold air. TADAAAAA Poor man outthinks the rich man |

How does a heated floor melt a snow covered car again? Just crank the floor up to max like a heating pad?
I want to read the technical data on a floor that cools too. New things are of great interest to me. Last edited by gonzo; 07-14-2010 at 08:46 AM.. |

The heated floor heats the whole garage. So in the winter the average temp in the garage is around 75 in the summer its around 65. In doesnt technically "cool" the garage. However, it keeps the garage more cool then outside.

Pretty sure thats just the garage doing what a garage does, keeps the car outta the sun which will be cooler than it sitting out in it. The garage itself is doing nothing specific to cool itself.

..lives at home with mom and dad. By "I have" he means "We have".., which in turn means "They have" or more accurately, "Father has". Thus by default, living under the same roof(s), Father has = I have. TO his credit though he has been somewhat upfront about that through his various posts. What I really want to know is how old he is..

Of the five spaces pictured in the exterior of the house, is the wash bay one of those spaces?
So there is a wash and parking for four cars/five if someone parks in wash bay? EDit: 10 spaces and a wash bay? Is there another drive with five more spaces on the other side of the house. I only see five. Where is the wash? Last edited by gonzo; 07-15-2010 at 01:01 PM.. |
