No, the iPad uses a completely new CPU. The 4G iPhone has a new one as well.

I did have the 1st gen iPhone until it crapped out on me last year. To be fair I hate cases and am not easy on my phones. I love the 3gs and might get the 4g... we will see how big of an improvement it really is.

Luckily for me, I have my SHSHs on file with Cydia so I can have mine unlocked easily as long as I don't upgrade via iTunes
