I'm having a really hard time believing that this is real... I wish it was, but it seems too good to be true

I hope it's real though!

GIMP has been able to do this for a while (over a year?) with the Resynthesizer plugin. The CS5 version seems a little more polished.

Whoa. Amazing. Can't wait for that to come out. Hope it's covered under our maintenance agreement. CS3-CS4 was.

Soon there will be no such thing as a bad photographer.

EDIT: Crap. Maintenance agreement ran out March 1st. Still looks to be worth the upgrade, though.

It's cool, but if you know photoshop well enough, you'd know that the tools available now aren't that far off. They are slowly making cloning better with each release.

of course you have the capability to do this with the current version. that isn't the point. it's the speed and accuracy of this new tool that is impressive.

This is just a step above the healing/clone brush. That was my point. Don't get me wrong, I think it's very impressive. But it's nothing completely new, just a minor iteration to what they already have.

It should also be noted that it's just a demo by Adobe and they know which photos/situations it works best in. It's not going to work like that in every situation. They have a demo like this with every release that looks completely amazing, but real world results end up depending on what you are actually cloning.

yes, and this is just a retail photoshop version. Just imagine what the tools can do that the folks at Pixar are using.

well, naturally; that's how you advertise properly. i'm pretty sure these new tools will be extremely time-saving and useful, regardless of what image you're processing.
