I've never liked the AMV8. Plus, according to Jeremy Clarkson, who actually owns one, its a beautiful car. Fast, loud, but just doesnt feel fast.

I'd do a used 997 turbo

It is amazing the beautiful cars that can be purchased for way less than 50K. I could by a 2005 Maserati Gransport (35K), a 2002 911 turbo (35K) and a Lotus (25K) and still have money left over from my 100K budget. Increase the budget to $200,000 and you can throw in a 2004 Z06 (22k), a 2005 Viper (38k) and a Ferrari 355 (48K). Heck 360s are now in the 70K range, even Gallardos are in the low 80's. Throw in a 2004 SL600 for 32K while your at it.

I am leaning toward the Aston. It can be currently purchased at 65K (more than likely 55K when I will be ready to buy at the end of the year).

The Maserati is about 75K now but they tank in value. So it should also be in the 55K range at the end of the year as well.

Need to hang a picture of my goal up on the wall before it gets much later in the year.

The Aston is probably one of the most beautiful cars produced of all time, but it isn't the most reliable, someone mentioned the XK, again a really pretty car and it's a fair bit more reliable.

Everyone is mentioning the 911 but for me at least it's not a whow car that others are, it's the everyday supercar and compared to the Italian exotics by Ferrari, Lamborghini and the likes it's a bit ordinary but at least it's reliable. If ltalian exotic looks and reliability are important then you might have a close look at the R8, it might not have the status of the others but it's a stunner to look at, it's reliable and feels special to drive.

P.S.
I'm jealous of your position, not knowing which to chose, I hate you. (j/k)

Also, I don't see how anyone can even suggest an RX7 along cars like Aston Martins, Porsches and Maseratis. They look decent but not that great, and surely aren't on the same level. Same goes for 15 year old NSXs.
Because people have different tastes & own opinion on what preference they have.

In my opinion, the Maserati Gransport is fucking disgusting ,but I love the styling of the Maserati Gran Turismo.

Really?
AMV8's have had a better record then most of the older models?
I have a few friends who own vantages and they have been pretty good to them. The 2006 models they mentioned one should avoid, as they were first year models, however 2007+ are good to go.

The OP thinks he can pick up a 2006 for 55K, sure he can! but for that model mileage and money you will be taking a big risk on the V8 Vantage. Since that model is now out of warranty and repairs or glitches in the electrical system could be expensive to fix.

Man the porsches dont even look exotic IMO, they are just like the other german marques, i.e. BMW Audi Mercedes.

Great sports car the 997 turbo, but lacks in style, refinement and class.

All those cars you mentioned might be had for cheap, but be very careful with:
Maserati gransport, those things look beautiful but are hell on maintenance and hence the low price!
Ferrari 355 is again very heavy on maintenance, if you are looking at a ferrari getting a 360/430 is a better bet!

If you are spending close to 100K, why not get a newer model aston
Dont pick an aston out of warranty, make sure it has some factory warranty reminaing, they come with 3yrs/unlimited mileage factory and if certified an extension of 12-24 months from the aston dealer.
If you are going for the aston, get it from there dealership, easier to service, unless you have a very specialsed independent shop that can service it for you!

As with anything that is hand built there will always be reliability issues that will arise, most of these will be electrical or panel issues rather than mechanical in nature. If you said that all of your friends have been problem free then that is great, they are lucky because I am quite friendly with my local Jaguar dealer which also deals with Astons and I know that they aren't without their fair share of problems.

Without a doubt. If we're talking most "beautiful", it needs to be elegant and restrained with amazing proportions. The only other car that I think contends is the AM V8 Vantage.

If we drop Rx7, we've got to drop all Porsches as well. Both have some nice lines but aren't exotic or head-turners. But you say, well a modded... stop, modded M3s also look killer and any car modded can look amazing but I don't think that's the point here.

I'd say the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Alfa Romeo 8c Competizione, & Lamborghini 560-4 Gallardo are the mainstays in this category.

The Maserati Granturismo is also a beautiful car and the fact that it's a 4-seater makes it even more impressive but perhaps not quite at the same level as the aforementioned vehicles.

So I've heard. I haven't driven one though, only read reviews and watched the TG episode.
