It's a tricky question as class typicall takes in more than income. For instance, would you consider Jenna Jamison upper class? She should have the income and net worth to qualify on the money side, but few would consider her upper class.
For me, its a mix of income and stature. So executives, company founders, law firm partners, prominent MDs, successful politicians etc would fall in to upper class. These are people who have influence as well as money. How much money and influence is what defines whether they are upper-upper, middle-upper or lower-upper. This makes it tough to come up with an income threshold, but I'd say in major centers the buy in is 1m per year in income or net worth above 5m. In smaller cities it might be 500t and 2.5m and in small towns it might be 250t and 1m. |
