You can imagine how excited bimmer enthusiasts would be if BMW was just releasing their first legit performance car ever. And in Korea, it's probably slightly more fanatic since they've finally got a not-so-boring car they can be proud of.

This car is going to sell like CRAZY. Hyundai has just announced that the price for the turbo 4 is 22k and the price of the V6 is 25k. In other words the price of the v6 is 9k cheaper than the Mustang GT!

This photo looks Amazing.. krazy how many parts are available on this car, im sure vendors here in USA are gona be all over the parts out for this car... a lot of the photos Ive seen look real good, this car is growing on me but I still see it like a Hyundais version of the G but theyre doing a good job.

If Hyundai makes a new premium brand, it'll cost billions and they'd have to jack up the price of the cars. It may attract some buyers who are unwilling to look at "economy brands" but there's a growing group of people who don't seem to care and even think of not being a badgewhore brand as a positive thing.
I think Hyundai is testing the waters here. If the cars don't sell, perhaps they'll consider launching the luxury brand but honestly I don't think they're going to have that problem. Look at what one car has done to improve the image of the entire Hyundai lineup? The Genesis has been winning magazine comparos with GS, E-class, and compared with S/LS. Now people bring up Accents or Elantras in conversation and someone says, "hey, Hyundais are pretty solid cars now, have you seen the Genesis?" If they had launched a new Genesis line it'd be, "yeah, the Genesis is their premium line and pretty nice cars but Hyundais are still crap". I think it's a smart move to not leave the brand behind like Nissan/Toyota/Honda. Also, I'm beginning to think using the classic Hyundai logo on these cars had purpose. They want to shove it in your face and get to you see the brand in a new light. After a few years, we'll probably see the wings here too. |
