Current cars will look very dated with this LCI. Wow.

Also interesting to learn this design was destined to have this headlight look from inception. It’s almost like they wanted NeuKlasse now but had to wait for evolution in lifeline of the model…

I really like the current G60 front end, zero complaints. Looks all-business. Rear end–for my taste–is meh and what I would like to see redesigned.

This LCI can’t come soon enough. The G60 design has been a failure. Nothing about the G60 screams premium. It could be mistaken for a Nissan or some other bland generic looking sedan. The Neue Klasse styling will be a nice comeback to a retro style that takes a nod to the earlier late 70’s and 80’s BMW front end design. Now what would make this even better, is if the Neue Klasse sedans would adopt the same additional smaller grill that the Neue Klasse iX3 SAV will get.

Wait until they reveal the interior. Nothing about that screams premium. Screens galore don’t mean premium.

Wait a minute - you’re telling me that giving you the Tesla treatment of nothing but a big screen in the center with no instrument cluster in front, hard plastics all around, isn’t premium!?!!?!!?! But how did Tesla put all that technology into a single screen - man - that’s a premium PC they got there..we should all feel lucky about what’s coming our way… it’s funny Lincoln beat them to the punch with this wrap around electronic gimmick crap

Meh - nothing to write home about. Is it better or worse than what’s on the G60 currently? I’d say it’s just different. I owned BMWs from the ‘80s - 2010’s, and they don’t look like Neue Klasse, despite much veribage stating this is so. This strange slightly upturned front end smile that generically shines out from each vehicle that is “Neue Klasse”. I don’t recall it on the E23, E24, E28 or E30.

The name itself is a retro throwback codeword that is supposed to make us think that BMW revolutionized style with the Neue Klasse back then. Unfortunately, since the backstory was that it was born of a desperate gamble to save the company from imminent insolvency, invoking that name again at a crossroads for BMW with climate, economy, labor, energy, politics, recalls and other bad news hitting them, seems like bad juju though apparently reporters fail to see this irony or are paid not to make the connection.

Well might be an opportunity to move the 5er away from the rest of the range and use less from the parts bin.
To be expected but It's amazing how much of our mini countryman I see in the i5. Steering wheel is just the same, same buttons albeit reskinned for looks obviously. Same for idrive 8.5 and mini os9, indicator stalks, window switches, same tech.
I'm not knocking it from a functional point of view but I'd be a bit miffed if I didn't know what to expect when my 100k i5 was delivered.

E60 and G60 are both the most distinctive.
I used to think the bangle era cars were ugly. Than I saw these cars. The G60 makes the E60 look like a beauty queen by comparison. Relative to the rest of the 5er designs, they are horrendous. E28, E34, E39, G30 are all beautiful designs. The first 4 are timeless. The E60 has aged well.
I’m still trying to comprehend how anyone finds the G60 pleasing to the eye. Perhaps they are blinded by the roundel. Along with the 2 series, It’s one of the ugliest sedans on the road today.

They have to drastically change the design mid life cycle, not been done before.

Maybe it’s just unifying the NK design language asap or realizing the G60 was a huge compromise/screwup. When the camo comes off, we’ll know then. Until then there will be some glimmer of hope.

Looks very promising.

I particularly like that BMW is trying new designs and ideas. There was a time when a phrase "it's more evolutionary than revolutionary" followed every single BMW design. Let's leave that approach to Benz.

...and don't forget this song and dance is boring and repetitive, the same all-knowing judgy crowd of today, few years from now will say G60 was the last true bla bla bla.
