Deutsch - Everything was working again for me this morning, including highway assistant. It worked when I first tried it—and sometime later the car announced in the dash and via speech that hands-free driving was now available.

It is clear there is some sort of server-side check to make sure this is authorized. Probably has to do with the fact that if you read about it, DAP does have an expiration date some years after production of the vehicle. This is probably the check on that which, with the servers down, it could not do.

I’d give it some time, or try updating apps and services and/or an iDrive double reboot.

No matter what, I am confident it should not require a dealer visit given my experience.

I am relieved, for sure.

Updating apps and services are still not working for my remote services everything else just working is updating but it's not allowing me to remote start or unlock the car

Thanks. I have updated apps and services (that worked). I have also re-booted iDrive 2x. DAP is dead and cannot be turned on via iDrive Driving Settings.

Also, my traffic info is gone. Stop sign/light warning gone. App is updated with correct battery %, range, location, tire psi, etc... But no remote commands will work and it now says battery preconditioning no longer available.

I thought it was due to the update to my car. It took a while to get all the connected drive activated and so far saw but it finally came in after 24 hours. My app is updating.

I don't want to diverge to much from the conversation, but what's the difference between "Highway Assistant" and "Highway Assistant Plus"? And which do you get with DAPP?

Don’t believe there is actually any such thing as Highway Assistant Plus. You either have Highway Assistant or not.

What is Highway Assistant? It’s the Traffic Jam Assist extended to work on (seperated?) highways up to 85 mph. And what is Traffic Jam Assist? Well, that’s ACC + lane keeping + hand-free on applicable roads up to 40 mph. And when do you get ACC + lane keeping? Well, that’s in Driver Assistance Plus, meaning Driver Asistance (no suffix) doesn’t have radar ACC or lane keeping.

And what is Driver Assistance Pro? Well, that’s just the combination of Driver Assistance Plus along with Highway Assistant and Active Driving Assistant Pro.

And what is Active Driving Assistant Pro? Well that’s the usual safety driving asistance systems like emergency braking, lane change assistant (blind spot warning), steering assistant (to help people avoid swerving around while looking at their phones), evasion assistance (auto detection of people about to sideswipe you).

But wait, is there an Active Driving Assistant non-pro (“amateur”?)? Well, you got me there. Now I’m losing interest…

I was using this feature today and it was the first time I noticed a message from the car suggesting that it wants to change lanes, and that if I agree, I need to look in the side mirror and it will initiate the lane change. Previously, the car would just put the signal on and then wait for me to look in the side mirror (then change lanes). This time it was different because it didn't signal first - it just prompted me with the message on the display before doing anything.

I'm not sure if that is a new feature, or I have just not noticed the messages for the past few months! Either is entirely possible.

Well…my app isn’t updating again. Last update was oct 2. Did all the reset things to no avail. No hurricane this go around either.

Same here—down again—and the car forgot my phone. It told me car was charged to 99% and when I got in it was only at 90.

My car is possessed. The reverse driving that always worked, backed into my son’s motorcycle. I took over immediately. His bike is fine. My car is going to the body shop for estimates today. Punched a hole in my taillight and I have several scrapes.

The recorded pathway stops in the middle now. I am carrying the fob because it can’t see my digital key. I have to open up my wallet in the phone and lock then unlock.

The charger door won’t open again. Lock / unlock didn’t work. I had to turn it on, back up and drive back. Maybe because the recorded path didn’t finish? Seriously, this just needs a button like the trunk release.

Before BMW hung up on me yesterday afternoon (10/3), after being on hold for ONE hour, the iGenius advisor actually admitted that BMW servers have crashed again and all cars have no connected services.

I have not lost faith and patience yet in BMW, but it seems since 2022 it has been near constant recalls, stop sales and software issues!!!

Anybody have an issues with Spotify not loading I believe it was working after the update but now my ESIM won't activate Spotify is broken now and my vehicle's not updating no more remote services come on BMW man maybe there just rebooting their servers or restoring a better configuration I don't know

My selling and servicing BMW dealer just texted me this message they received from an area BMW Rep.:

We're currently experiencing a network outage affecting several ConnectedDrive services, including but not limited to:
Real-Time Traffic Info (RTTI), Spotify, Weather, News, and Remote Services (door lock, unlock, vehicle status), login via Driver's profile/QR code unavailable.

I didn’t do that for fear of your problem and when I spoke to BMW today they said do not deactivate it might be a bigger issue.

I think when they get their systems working again it should sort itself out and you will be up and running again
