Sounds like good news! The finish on the scratch I have is rough, too, I thought it was because the mark was not very smooth to start, but maybe it needs some polish to finish it off. Show us the pictures when you get a chance!

Here are the pictures. I took these pictures today. The first two are from inside the garage with the door opened to let in light, and the second two are after I pulled out of the garage into the driveway (in direct sunlight).
It's sort of inconclusive now that I take another look at it. I did this repair in the garage during the day with the door opened (for maximum light, but not direct sunlight). Basically it looks much better when in the garage, than compared to out in direct sunlight. I suspect that the brightness of the repair when in direct sunlight may be due to the poorly leveled clearcoat finish (it probably has a lumpy high spot), but not really sure. I don't think I'll really know until after 30 days when I can try to smooth it down with some polish or buffing. In short, if the polishing/buffing does not get rid of the bright spot, I'll probably take it to my detail shop for advice or just ask them if they can fix it.

If I might say….I honestly think it looks just fine now, unless you wash your car every other day, doesn’t it look like all the other million specs that you get over time from the environment? I get that knowing it’s there is in the mind, but I’ll bet no-one else notices based upon the pictures you’ve posted. Nice job, I say.

I hear that. Thanks. My wife thinks I'm being too crazy about it too. I guess the first one is always the worst.

I had to squint to see anything at all. Nothing wrong with being obsessive about your car.

It looks pretty good to me! It's not going to be perfect -- but I think it's worth it for the cost/effort. Polish will probably help. You can take it for repainting when you get 200 more rock chips.
