That is the weird part at the dealer. I always see five or six and I asked did they sell the cars and they say yes then of course I always wonder where ,never see them. I believe the dealership BMW of Camarillo is a high-volume dealership so they sell all over. Ownership is new.

Other than my local dealer who has sold/delivered every one of their 540 allocations since November, I have found at least one or two dealer stock 540i’s in surrounding cities. And all of them had i5’s and 530i’s as well. I haven’t checked incentives but you can be certain dealers were trying to move them whether getting help from BMW NA or not especially with more allocated units enroute.

I had a cool experience the other week - I was merging into traffic on I80 in SF to cross the bay bridge and a guy in a big pickup in the next lane over honked at me, I lowered the passenger window and he shouted out “is that a new 5 series? Looks awesome!”

Here is southern California, since I have been looking at BMWs since the beginning of this year, I have only seen three i4 eDrive35 cars, one i5 eDrive40 and one ICE 5 series (I don't remember which model). Granted, I don't drive a whole lot but I would have thought I'd see a lot more than that. The last one I saw, was an i4 earlier tonight when I was on the freeway around 6pm.

Just finished a walk around the neighborhood and spotted an Oxide 530i in a driveway. Not the color for me but happy to see another G60!

I'd say I've seen 5-10 since I took delivery in December. Pretty rare.

I was driving in the highway in mine and one past me and I thought it was a 7 series. Funny how it seemed like such a large vehicle even though I was on one as well.

Every time I see a G60, I try to convince myself to like it, but I just can't. BMW could have done much better with the styling. I may be biased because I have one, but my G30 looks so much better from every angle. If I were shopping new today, I'd lean E Class or A6 based on styling alone. It's as if BMW goes out of their way just to be polarizing in the design department. I suppose there's a sub-set of clientele who want that, but I'm definitely not one.

The G30 is definitely a more coherent and (for most people) a more attractive vehicle from the exterior. The G60 is definitely more "masculine" looking and has a real presence about it.
On exterior appearance alone I think the A6 is really attractive even if it's almost impossible to distinguish between the A4 and A8. The new E-Class is definitely a more coherent look than the G60 but is very, very generic and, I think, will kind of fade into the woodwork over time. There's little question that the G60 is the most polarizing of the three and only time will tell how its accepted by the car buying public. BMW has an interesting and largely successful track record of introducing polarizing designs that really catch on over time. I expect that will be the case with the G60. |
