Thanks to everyone who helped with this. I installed the badges myself using painter's tape to get the correct alignment based on what was posted here. I'm very happy with the results!

Okay, is it my OCD or does anyone else think it's unusual that the 'M' color band faces forward on the driver's side but backwards on the passenger side? Maybe it's just not cost effective for them to make a 'left/right' M Badge

Yes, I had the same concern while affixing the badges, but after checking out photos of the European models, I think that's just how they are!

Looks great! How do they stick on? Do you just peel off a backing and press them onto the car? Anyone worried about them falling off when washing or with snow etc.? I'm thinking of putting them on my car, but just have a general resistance to sticking things to the car.

Yes, they come with a black 3M adhesive (at least the OEM versions I got do). The most challenging part was placement, but that quickly proved to be quite workable with a ruler and some painter’s tape to mark the exact corner.

The black ones are almost half the price of the silver ones. I'm thinking since I have a mostly black/red theme on the car, I will probably go with the black ones.

Depends. The black would look sharp, but is the signage on the back black as well? Silver look more OEM to me.

I don’t think they would look good on my Tanzanite blue. The color is too dark. It would be distracting.

Hmm..I don't know, I think you can pull it off with Tanzanite blue. I found a Tanzanite one from Canada in this video, and I think they look sharp! Personal preference of course

Finally got my badges and applied them today. Love how it looks and how it matches the black/red theme of my car. It's nice to finally have the badging installed that comes pre-installed on this car in every other country except for the USA.

Many thanks to Theophilus for posting his pictures and suggesting the painter's tape approach. I too, used some masking tape with a small ruler to mark the location for the emblem, then just peeled off the backing and pressed it on. I also got the official BMW part so as not to take any chances on quality.
The badges have a very high quality feel to them and have an adhesive backing for easy installation.

The side emblems in black are by far the best imo, especially in this color combo. Looks very subtle yet so sharp! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the kind words folks. Although I got the GLOSSY black emblems because I have a gloss paint, I bet the MATTE black emblems would look great on a frozen paint car.
