These people need to be upset with BMW, not future 1 series buyers.
...if they need to be upset at all.

Yeah, he thinks I am less of a man because I drive a Honda (*35i). All I do is dream of BMWs because I can't afford one, certainly not the hyper expensive 3 series. Now he is pissed because I am going to buy the uber cheap 1 series.

The 3er has turned into that 45-year-old dude that looks nothing like he did in high school. Wears a good suit, and he can still chuck a football, but he's gotten fat, a bit slower and not quite as nimble as he used to be.
The 1er is the new kid: leaner, faster, with just as much power. He's getting a lot of attention, and the NFL scouts are seeing him as a serious prospect. Reminds the 3er of what he looked like in high school, oh so long ago... See you in the twisties, 3er guys!

Cracks me up how they are comparing the looks of the 128 vs the 335 instead of comparing it to the 135 ( The M kit, wheels, and bigger brakes make a world difference)

I get so much crap on the Audi boards about the 135i. It's pretty obvious that they are just upset that Audi doesn't make anything fast and affordable anymore.

^^^DING DING.
I totally agree with you. I have been saying for a while now that Audi pays far too much attention to the high end of the market lately. The only thing Audi has in the price range of the 135 is the A3 which will be no where near the performance of the 135i. The 135 has ruffled quite a few feathers, A3's , 335i's, Subaru's, and so on. Cant wait to get one on the street. |

Surprising we haven't heard anything about an S3. The big problem for the A3 is price point. The 1er will be right in the same ballpark with so much more performance.

the amount of performance you get for your money is not the only thing that has drawn me to the 1 series. I also wanted a friendly community that's helpful in any situation i might have. These threads on e90post has just proven to me that i wont be able to find "true enthusiasts" on there, at least not as many as i will find here on 1addicts.
P.S and as for subaru forums, they are actually very supportive of the 135i, i think it's a natural stepping stone for the sti guys to upgrade to the 135i. |

If Audi did bring the S3 over it would be ridiculously over priced. The A3 3.2 is already 45kCD.

I don't know how to break this to them, but I -- and I'm sure many people on here -- can easily afford the 1-Series. I'm not buying it because I "can't afford" a 335i.
Hell, I could buy a Cayman S tonight if I wanted to. Money is not the issue. The fact is, the 1er is the kind of car I want to drive and the 335i is not. It's compact, extremely fast, has very impressive performance hardware, is engineered by BMW, and looks great. The 335i, while a very impressive car, is too big and has too much unnecessary equipment. Some people arent' interested in always buying the biggest [insert product here] they can afford. |

This is a great point.. We shouldn't go over to their threads and post about their inflated ego's.. That would make us no better than they are and we shouldn't have to do that to begin with(their own members should show them the light). E90 has a lot of intelligent people that just avoid threads like that so lets try not to stereotype the whole forum! I have refrained from posting in that thread because i figured it is their choice if they don't want to see the value of the 1 series and no car is worth degrading another person for.. |

But exactly, it's all about what you want and some people just have to try to put it down to make themselves feel better about what they have...it's pretty sad |

the e90post is the most ridiculous forum I've ever looked at. I've been on it for a few months just to research what I'll be able to do with my 135i in the motor department. a post there is not complete without 20 or 30 f bombs a bunch of pissing contests and one person running home to tell his mommy. with the egos over there I'm not surprised with all the haters. but there is some useful info if you can weed through the crap.
